I’m buying my first Chanel and after much debating I’ve finally decided on a black caviar jumbo classic flap with SHW. A seller has pulled 2 bags for me and I must choose this weekend! Both are in very good, comparable condition EXCEPT the bag on the left is not as rounded on top (and $1000 less expensive!) So, how important is this structurally? Is there any way to shape it back? Bag on the left is a 2014 and bag on the right is 2012.

It's so funny you post this...I have two caviar Jumbos that when I put them side look just like this...One is a bit more full and looks more matte (like the one on the right) and the other has more shine but is narrower (like the one on the left). I think it's just your preference because both of my bags hold up incredibly well and I don't think you will go wrong with either one. If you can put your items in them and take a look it may help. My narrower one fills out a bit more when I put things in it. I don't think either needs any correcting.

I would go with the 2014 on the left if it's $1k less. While the top isn't as rounded, it's still curved enough and not pointy like a Reissue (which is something I'm still trying to wrap my head around), and the double flap will probably prevent it from getting any pointier. I like the shine and puffiness of the quilts on the 2014 more as well.

Get the one that makes you the happiest (but I will also say, $1000 less on a stunning bag is hard to beat--plus 2014 was one of my favorite years for Chanel), but both are fantastic and I don't think you would go wrong with either one. Congratulations on your first Chanel too! 
Is the caviar on the left side that much prettier or is that lighting?! What series is 2014? (hahah hunting for those good puffs)!
It’s an 18 series. According to the seller the quilts are just as puffy on both bags, but the shinier caviar makes them show better than on the more matte leather.

Just based on these pictures, I'd go with the left (shinier) one as well. Not to make the decision any harder... but I'd want to understand the other differences that is causing the $1000 price difference (could it be wear and tear that's hopefully disclosed in the description).
