Hello, I'm on the hunt for a light WOC (under $2k) in a non-black color to carry to weddings and other evening events.
Which one would you get?
  1. YSL Classic Envelope WOC (Medium size) (Fashionphile)
  2. Gucci Dionysus WOC (Fashionphile)
  3. YSL Mixed Matelasse Envelope WOC (Saks - new season)
I've never bought from Fashionphile before - do you generally have good experiences with them?

@pandasnow, can you post pics of these - readers in the future will appreciate it, and also some of us just don’t like to click on links.

Fashionphile underpays and overprices, and here lately, their descriptions are ludicrous. But they do have a good return policy if your time is worth it.

Firstly, they're all made in the same factories so there shouldn't be much difference quality wise. But, I don't like these stamped leathers of the YSLs.

I think the first YSL is too dark if you want a non-black. The Stone Grey is the easiest convertible to a clutch, but I like the hardware and quilt pattern the least.

I'd get the Dionysus. I love the off-white colour with the shw. I have a white Hermes clutch, but any white bag is not going to stay pristine. I'd forgo the 10% discount and get it new from Gucci, this season they have the off-white, red, green and a gorgeous navy (as well as black).

I've never purchased for Fashionphile. I prefer to buy direct from brands as the rest of my post implies.

For YSL clutches and evening bags I highly recommend you go into stores to try them on and put your items inside (if you ask they’ll let you, I’ve never had a problem).
The main reason being, while YSL leather is very durable it is also quite stiff and not as forgiving. You may find that it holds a lot less than you think it can or should hold. ;)

My experience from Fashionphile was pre-pandemic, around 2017/2018 when deal were actually good, quality control was well managed and returns were easy. So unfortunately, my experience probably can’t relate to what’s going on today.

I have bought quite a bit from fashionphile over the last few years. My experience has been pleasant thus far, but yes, they are overpriced. As far as the return policy, you must keep the tag attached and return it within the required time frame. As a seller, I prefer selling on ebay but usually request a quote from them anyway. I’ve always been lowballed.

i agree with another poster...try the clutches on in person and see if the capacity works for you. This is especially important with small bags.

I was in the market for an evening clutch in January and was weighing various YSL bags when I stumbled upon the Ferragamo viva Vera bow in pink. This what I ended up getting and I just love it. It’s not on your list but it wasn’t on mine either and ended up the winner.

I love Fashionphile. The items they list are usually in better condition than what they claim. That's a plus in my book because they always disclose flaws, no matter how minimal. Their return policy is also great (no hassle return within 30 days, no reason needed). Most importantly, I love the fact that someone answers immediately every single time I call in. Can't beat their customer service!

I agree with you about their return policy, it's totally no hassle, but I feel their listings have gone downhill in the last year. I particularly dislike their use of generic mannequin photos with some of the listings, even if they put in a disclaimer.
