Help me choose a small gold cross!

Okay - I'm looking for a fairly small yellow gold cross pendant. I want it to be on a 16" chain and very plain so I can layer it if I want to. I also want it to be solid because it will be smaller so I want it to be sturdy.

Here are the two I'm debating over:

If I get the one from Joy Jewelers, I would have to purchase a chain, but I'm okay with that. I did contact CS from Joy Jewelers and they assured me the pendant is solid gold. The necklace at Shimmer and Stone is also solid and made in the USA.
Thoughts???

I like # 1 but I don't like the chain. I would do a thin rope chain with it.

I like number 1- I think the chain makes it look more modern, and the style of the cross seems nicer then number 2.

I definitely prefer the first cross pendant. I would pair it with a thin rope or box chain.

#1...I think the cross looks more refined/finished on that one. I agree with the others who said change out the chain with it though.
