Hi everyone, this is my first thread. I'm usually a silent lurker :P. I'm posting this cause I' extremely desperate to get some advice for my push gift, and i'm very near my due date so I dont have much time left!

I'm given a budget of roughly US$14k by DH.

Initially. he was keen to get for me a tennis bracelet, a 0.2ct 6.25" from a local jeweler.(first pic, 2nd from left) , around the budget.

However, I'm easily distracted and am thinking of maybe getting a smaller bracelet or a few other small pieces that I can wear daily.
I'm thinking of a combi of the following -

Bvlgari Parentesi Open works necklace in WG - US$5.8K
Cartier diamants legers necklace in YG - US$2.3K
VCA vintage allambra necklace in either MOP or plain YG - US$2.3k

What would you ladies opt for? Would you -
1) take the tennis bracelet?
2) go for the bvlgari, cartier or VCA necklace
3) choose a smaller tennis bracelet + either the cartier or VCA necklace?

I've done up a poll!
Any advice or suggestions outside of the listed 3 options welcome!! I was also looking at the cartier trinity ruban necklace for a while but had to stop myself from adding one more option into the mix. Think i am confused enough already as it is!
Thanks ladies :)

I voted for the 20-pt tennis bracelet, because it is the most classic, important, and timeless of all the choices, and the diamonds are the largest ( most significant jewelry piece). The other choices are little things which you can easily accumulate one at a time later on. Don't underestimate the versatility of the 20-pt diamond bracelet. You can rock it anytime and wear it with jeans if you want.

I have two tennis bracelets with 15-pt diamonds. Wish I had gone for larger diamonds in my second TB's purchase.

Btw - I would get a long 10-motifs or 20-motifs VCA necklace rather than single motif. If you want a single station necklace, I suggest getting a 1-carat solitaire diamond necklace.

I agree with Christiflora! I wished i had gone for larger diamonds also especially as i age. Now i try to hold my purchases first and save for a more 'significant' piece. Since you have the budget, i say go for the 20 pt tennis bracelet if i were you.

Thanks for the advice everyone! Really really helpful. I didn't think that the 20pt tennis bracelet will get so much love. Will seriously reconsider that now.

I don't get a chance to buy jewelry often. So I'm just wondering if I will ever get to buy the other
smaller pieces from big brands. As it is, some of the pieces are really so ridiculously priced that I find myself gravitating towards the non-brand jewellers cause I can't justify paying that much.

Get the tennis bracelet. The bigger the diamonds, the better. Think Elizabeth Taylor. Of course we don't all get a Richard Burton to fund out purchases, but over time the bigger pieces appreciate more in value and will not look tacky or too cheap or small, when you get older.

I don't like small jewelry pieces, overtime they'll just end up being fashion items (at least mine have), and you'll end up craving bigger and shinier things.

Everyone has given you great advice, imo. Get the tennis bracelet! My husband surprised me with a beautiful tb as my wedding gift. Prior to this, I never really thought I would wear one enough to justify the cost. Since receiving it, I've worn it almost daily. I wear mine in all sorts of ways, wether dressed down within a "stack" wearing blue jeans and a t-shirt or elegantly on its own wearing a lil black dress for a romantic dinner.
You can never go wrong with such a classic piece!

:p thanks everyone!! I really appreciate the feedback. The choice seems to be obvious here.
Think DH will be pleased to hear that he has good taste.

I still can't stop thinking about some of the smaller items. Maybe I will get one as a small gift to myself. Now I need to struggle on which to get - VCA or Cartier?

I vote for the tb as well. I have the cartier dldc (large size) and while it saw 247 wear for over 1-2 years, the others are completely right - i crave something bigger now! Sure, its classic but now Im wishing I had gotten a similar solitaire from a local jeweler with a good upgrade policy. If you want something branded I +2 VCA necklace or earrings. Especially the earrings.

I agree with everyone that posted to get the most carat weight/best diamond quality TB you can find/afford. The one that your jeweler is offering is lovely!
Trust me, "diamond shrinkage" will set in and you'll be sorry you didn't invest in a good size.
I've told this story before but I upgraded 3 times with my TB...7 tcw, 10 tcw, finally 14 tcw. I'm happy with the last one and have worn it everyday for 10 years.
Two things to consider...check with your jeweler in case you want to upgrade down the road and have the diamonds checked every 6-8 months plus check for any metal fatigue.
Congratulations on your pregnancy! A beautiful TB will be perfect!
