I’m in the process of refreshing my rings. I currently wear a Rose Gold Trinity Ring and Juste Un Clou on each middle finger. I never take my rings off, so ideally want something that can withstand daily wear and tear, lotion, etc. This ring will replace the JUC on
my left middle finger.

Options

1. Boucheron Quatre (£4,480)
White Ceramic with Diamonds

Pros
-
It’s different. I’ve never had a ceramic ring before and the diamonds add a little something something
Cons
-
Having looked at second hand photos on Vestiaire, I’m wary of dirt getting stuck in the crevices of the ceramic

2. Chanel Toi et Moi (£3,060)
Slim, two-tone version

Pros
-
Classic, understated but still has that je ne sais quoi, if you will
Cons
-
Again, I’m wary of things getting trapped in the quilted parts

3. Hermès Collier de Chien (£1,700)
Rose Gold Version

Pros
-
Edgy and fun, but also timeless
Cons
-
Moving part could become cumbersome/get caught in hair, etc.

I have many Trinity.

if I was going to 'mix 'n' match, I think the Boucheron Q will look fab

You can layer as well as wear on separate fingers.

but

I also like the Chanel TeM

I have yg Jessica McCormack/Haas Bros snake ring which is textured similarly to the Chanel, I wear next to a wg/ceramic Trinity and I like the texture's contrast to the smooth Trinity.

Oooh, I’d love to see your stack! How does the texture fare with everyday wear and tear?!

They're already posted in different places. Maybe if I get time I'll take another pic.

I think the Chanel would probably work alongside rather than a stack since it's not flat, but I'd also like to see it next to any size Trinity if you get the chance to try again. The Boucheron Q will sit better as a stack, but it's basically all diamonds, better make sure B thinks it's OK to shower and wash with it on, coz you would not want to be losing it in some washroom after leaving it on white tiles :panic: .

I care about loving, wearing and using all my 'stuff' more than scratches, but I hate breakages or stone shedding. In the past I've some pavé-set diamond and a couple of times have noticed stones missing (Gucci/Cartier - all repaired now, both have wonderful CS). Ask Boucheron if they will lifetime replace any missing stones before you buy.

The McCormack/Haas Bros snake has diamond eyes but seems even though wearing 18 months daily. My snake textured ring is fine next to the Trinity/Trinities, I know McCormack designed these snake rings to be stacked. Maybe the texture becomes a little more pronounced over time, possibly the Chanel's 'quilting' also could.

You got me interested in the Chanel TeM now

I’m not much of a stacker, so will be wearing these on their own. I did try the TeM on next to the Trinity and found that (at least on me) they were bashing into eachother, although, the TeM did look nice on the index finger, with the Trinity next to it.

I’ve enquired about showering with the Quatre and was told that it’s absolutely fine. Boucheron will service the ring, if damaged - the first service is free. The possibility of the diamonds falling out did not cross my mind..

I’m the same, I want to wear and enjoy the item as opposed to being constantly worried about bits and bobs breaking off, or it getting so dirty, to the extent that I need to clean it frequently.

I’ve been eyeing the TeM for 3 years now!! So close to pulling the trigger.

Option 4 - I like the Boucheron on your ring finger, reads black and white... but I think it's a dark brown stone?

After that I think I like the Hermes best on you. I'm a fan of symmetry so don't love the Chanel ring.

It is indeed chocolate brown! (PVD is what they call it). The black version is on my thumb.

I loveddd the colour… but it’s prone to chipping off, which would really bother me. The ring next to it, on my middle finger is the same colour and it’s stunning.

The symmetry take is quite interesting actually, I’ve never really thought about it when looking at jewellery in general.

In order of preference:

1) Boucheron - I have always been interested in Boucheron and I enjoy the uniqueness of their pieces. Knowing myself I would probably get it dirty but at least the white ceramic would let me know very quickly that I'd need to clean it.

2) Chanel - I like the quilting, I just don't like how some of the rings are hollowed out underneath/inside. I don't think the version you are looking as is, which is good. I also like the dual gold colors. It think it add versatility when wearing different metals (not just rings but also bracelets, earrings etc.)
I'd probably get the quilting very dirty and I think that since the etching is so fine, it would be quite tricky getting all that dirt out, even with a sonicator.
I have the older version of the Tiffany atlas ring where the roman numerals are all hollow. And they got very dirty, caked up with dirt, probably lotion, dead skin, etc. My sonicator didn't do much. I had to get a needle and poke through all the numbers to get the dirt out and put it many times in the sonicator to clean it.
However, probably more routine cleaning would prevent the build-up and packing in of dirt.

3) Hermes - Hmm, not much of an Hermes fine jewelry fan. So I can't say much. It's a pretty ring!

This is very helpful, thank you!!

In all honesty, my heart wants the Boucheron ring but my head is saying be practical because at that price point, you need something that you can wear and not have to worry about constantly.

Does the hollowness cause water and whatnot to get trapped in the ring? This one felt quite flat against the skin (I think?!). With your Tiffany ring, was the build up over a long period of time? Or did daily contact with lotions, etc. require the ring to be cleaned instantly?

I’m starting to think that these rings are great for putting on and taking off but if you want to ‘live’ in them, not so much..

I have heard from those with the wider bands, that the Chanel rings are hollowed out and do trap water which they find annoying. But I agree, looking at photos from the Chanel website; the version you are looking at appears to be solid and flush against the skin.

Yes, for my Tiffany ring it was built up over a long period of time. I've had my ring since 2018 and I wear it almost daily stacked with 2 other rings. I wash my hands with it and do all my activities with it on (gardening, bathing the dogs, cleaning, cooking). However, I will take it off before I shower, when I workout, and before I go to bed.

I'll be really honest, the only time I "clean" my fine jewelry on a "regular basis" is when I wash my hands.
My wedding set is a little more clean because that (and the love bracelet + a Tiffany DBTY necklace) are the only items I wear in the shower (and to sleep). I suppose those 3 items are my true 24/7 live-in pieces.

I am not a hand lotions person. I put cream onto my cuticles but I am not a hand lotion user. I am impatient, don't like to wait for creams to absorb and dislike any kind of sticky feeling on my hands.
I do put on body lotion after showering but since I'm only wearing my wedding set, it's just a diamond solitaire and 2 half-eternity diamond bands. Lotions wash off pretty easily with a handwash.

I think if you want to wear rings 24/7 (including sleeping, showering, lotion etc.), the best items to wear are solid gold with or without diamonds that don't have too many engravings/details/etching. Cartier trinity comes to mind. Any full eternity or half eternity diamond bands as well.
