I'm trying to decide between the Balenciaga Hip and the LV Eva:

I already own a black classic chanel WOC, so I want something more casual and light colored for the summer.

Some pros/cons I've been weighing:

-The Balenciaga is about $50 more expensive than the LV.
-Balenciaga=leather, LV=canvas. I hate when leather wears off the corners of a bag, but I don't know if this style would be susceptible to that.
-I'd have to order the bal online, whereas the nearest LV boutique is less than 15 mins away from my house.

I'm not sure if they are the same size or if one is bigger than the other.

Help me choose?

Dunno why the pictures aren't showing up :thinkin:

I have the hip and the corners have not worn away. It's a cross body bag, so the corners are safe.

Generally, I prefer leather to canvas. So even though I do have an LV in DE, I always reach for my leather bags first.

What's the size difference between the two?

The eva is: 9.8 L x 5.1 H x 1.6 W inches
The hip is: 9.5 L x 6.5 H x 2 W inches

The hip is a bit roomier it seems.

Good to know that it doesn't wear easily at the corners. I'm neutral about canvas vs leather, canvas is more durable imo, but leather is worth the money and nicer to the touch.

I agree about canvas being more durable, but how durable would you really need a
cross body bag of that size to be?

The size makes a big difference to me. Both are small, but based on my own experience, I would go for the slightly larger one.

Even the hip doesn't fit my daily essentials which are really just the basics- glasses, wallet, keys, phone, and tissues.

I have a Bal Hip and adore it. It is a little over two years old and still looks beautiful. Over time, it gets really wrinkly and lays against the body with ease. I haven't had problems with the leather and have even carried it in the rain several times. I also love that the Bal Hip is really under the radar. I feel comfortable taking it anywhere!

Both are casual.

Canvas if u want something more durable. LV canvas is really DURABLE! But I don't appreciate the extra length of the zipper hanging outside.

Bal has pocket outside. I just love anything with pocket outside lol. I use pocket behind Chanel WoC a lot. Bal looks more edgy.

G luck deciding.

I like the LV. I like that it is deeper (for sunglasses), easier to care for, more neutral colors, lots of character.

The pink bal seems like it would get dirty and more creased. I rarely wear my pink leather bag for that reason.

I love the Balenciaga, that would be the bag I would choose! For some reason, I always thought that the Eva looks like a pencil case on a strap...If you want to go LV, I would buy the Favourite MM instead! Let us know how you decided!

Thanks for the help everyone, I've decided to go for balenciaga, but now I'm thinking about the mini city mini city or hip, I think I prefer the hip, but still not 100% sure.

I used to own the favorite mm from lv, but got a refund a few months later because mine was defective, not going to buy that style again after that experience.
