Based on your needs, I’d recommend the GM. I have the MM and it’s perfect as an every day bag for me. But that said, I have no plans to ever use it for books or as a travel bag. I’d go with the GM in your situation. Great size for books & travel and you can always cinch in the sides to make it a little smaller on days you want to just use it as a purse.
