Help! Is this type of chain normal on a vintage bag?

I'm hoping someone out there can reassure me....

I've just received a vintage bag I purchased on ebay (it's authentic according to the hard working ladies at the 'authenticate this' thread) but I'm not sure if the chain is normal? I have a vintage mini and it has a very heavy chain and the links have flattened areas - the chain on this bag is much lighter in comparison and the links do not show any flattened sections at all. I've attached a pic (I hope it's clear enough to show what I am referring to) which shows the chain on my mini (top) and the chain on my new bag (bottom). Is this normal that the chain looks like this?

I'm certainly not an expert on attaching photos - but hopefully this works!

Chanel has used many different chains over the years. It looks fine to me.

Now that I look more closely at the chains of different vintage bags on ebay, I can see lots that have chains like mine - I'm obviously a newbie to Chanel :shame:
