Help Identifying Designer? Gold cross, rubies (carnelian)

Hi! My mom recently purchased this, but we really can't tell who the designer is or what the origin is. A lady nearby claimed it was a well-known Italian designer, but we really don't know.

It looks to be Roman style, and the gold is 14K with rubies (carnelian).

any help is greatly appreciated!!!
