help, i need some opinions for a birthday dinner outfit!

okay so i'm working on my outfit for one of my birthday dinners in a couple weeks. i've got my heart set on wearing my new over-the-knee boots with a short black skirt, and probably black hose.

here's the skirt i bought, this angle makes it look real rockerish but when you're walking the black gems shine:

here's the one i'm going to order to see if i like better (and hem it since it has to be short to wear my high boots with it):

they come just above the knee so they're not real real high.

my question is, what kind of top would you wear with either of these options? i don't wear too many skirts and when i do they are high waisted and easy to put a normal shirt tucked into them, so i'm venturing out of territory.

I love both of your skirts... I especially like the second one though, with knee high boots, that will definitely look killer! I don't own a mini skirt (I do own skirts, but not that short, haha) and I definitely don't own a pair of over the knee boots, but I definitely like pairing outfits together... if I had to put that outfit together, I would pair it with one of these (not sure where you live if it will be hot or cold)

^^^ omg the lace one is hot. i like ruffles but i'm usually real picky with the tops i choose that are ruffle-y. lol. thanks so much for your suggestions though, i have an idea of what i'm looking for now :smile:

I really like that second skirt you chose OP..both of them are very Herve Leger-esque with the bandages. I am sure it would look really great on your figure(not trying to sound creeper-ish). That dress from bebe is really WOW. I thought you had decided on another dress? Or was that for another event, : P

that dress is still in-transit to me (it will be almost 2 weeks on monday since it's been shipped, i'm getting anxious and hope it's here soon). this year i have two birthday dinners lol. the colorblock dress is for the night in new york, this outfit would be for the night in philly. i like the bebe dress but is it too slutty almost? lol. especially with OTK boots...i think probably just a bit much. what about just the top version of that dress with like the second skirt? maybe i should go for a much softer top and stick with a skirt. ugh. lol i'm off to try and find top options now...
