Help! Holes in my antigona clutch!

It's the new year and I'm doing spring cleaning.. and to my horror I saw many small holes in the leather of my antigona clutch in black calf! 😢

This bag holds sentiment value to me as it was my first luxurious bag bought with my own paycheck.

The holes are about 1mm across and the deepness varies.. and there are at least 100 of them!

I have no idea what caused them and they definitely weren't there when I last used it. I tried to Google and searched this forum but is unable find anything.. does anyone knows? And how can I save my beloved clutch? 😢😢😢

Have you considered bug infestation? Some do eat leather, and the small holes reminds me of them. I've gone thru this with wool and cashmere so I feel your pain. Look around where you store this and examine everything in that space carefully. You may see either more evidence of holes in other items or even the bugs themselves.
So sry to see your clutch like this!

OMG! So sorry to see this. I would consult a very good leather repair professional. Perhaps start locally and if need be, go national with your search. I think there are some good ones in NY.

Thanks for the idea! Do you know what kind of bugs? I live in Singapore and it is high humidity so I'm also thinking if it's due to mold.. I'm going to spray the whole area with insecticide! Pesky bugs 😤

It was stored in the white givenchy dustbag and the dust bag looks clean.. 😣

Thanks for the suggestion! I will try my shoe repair specialist in Singapore if they know how to save this...
