Help! Found out a bag I purchased two years ago is counterfeit.

Advice needed, please!
I purchased a Prada Galleria bag off of Vestiaire Collective two years ago and also got it authenticated by Real Authentication.
Now, that I am trying to re-sell it, I’ve found out that it is actually a counterfeit.
Since it has been so long, is there anything I can do?

my listing got removed off of eBay for being counterfeit, so I engaged another authentication service, ******************, who also advised that it is counterfeit.
Could you please post again the name of the company that provided the second opinion, but with dashes or something in between the letters?
From what I learned on this forum, RealAuth aren't very reliable when it comes to Prada. Did you post here in the Authenticate this Prada thread? I'm thinking if someone reported your bag on eBay and then another service also said it's fake, then there's a pretty high chance it is, indeed, fake. But it could also be that RealAuth were correct and the other two were wrong.

I have a gut feeling that it is fake. Since it’s been two years, do you think there is any recourse I could take? I feel so foolish.
It’s a-u-t-h f-I-r-s-t. Didn’t want to spell out the whole name haha

After 2 years, sadly, I don't think there's much you can do. Check the terms of your CC company, it's a stretch, but they might offer protections for purchases if the goods turn out to be counterfeit?

But either way, first you need to determine if the bag is indeed fake. I strongly recommend you post here: https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/authenticate-this-prada.899598/ The ladies authenticating Prada over there are amazing. Provide extra clear, detailed photos, since Saffianos are especially difficult.

ETA: when the name of an authentication company shows up as asterisks here on the forums, it means that they have been accused by tPF authenticators of making mistakes on a regular basis, got offended and demanded their name redacted. So I'd say there's still a possibility the bag in question is fine.

Oh, thanks for the link and info! I will kindly ask the ladies on the forum to authenticate my bag and hope that it is in fact authentic. It’s just so difficult with second hand bags when you get differing opinions from authentication services.

Yes, that couldn't be more true, sadly. Some companies seem to be good with certain brands and unreliable when it comes to others. I've read plenty of such stories, especially with really difficult brands like Celine.

I've been reading the Prada subforum here quite extensively, and I have to say, I personally do not have a single doubt about the expertise of our Prada authenticators. You could also ask them which authentication company they can recommend in case you need it in writing for a legal dispute if the bag turns out to be fake after all.

Thanks, again! It also makes me very skeptical, purchasing off sites like Vestiare Collective that seemingly guarantee authenticity. I was browsing a few forums here last night and read it a lot of people spotting fakes on there. Wish I was better at spotting them, as well

Thank you! It’s certainly an unfortunate situation. Not to mention how embarrassing it is carrying around a counterfeit bag for the past 2 years
I am very sorry for what you're going through. And your sentence rings too true for me. Several years ago I was proudly carrying a Celine bag, purchased through a reseller, in NYC. My friend and I were in Bergdorf's Celine handbag department, and one of the SA's commented that he had never seen a bag like mine with contrast stitching. I didn't think about it at all until I tried to sell that bag to Fashionphile and it was rejected as counterfeit. To this day, I am completely, utterly mortified when I think of that moment in Bergdorf Goodman.

I threw that bag in the trash.

Oh my god! Sorry to hear! I don’t know what’s worse, the wasted money, or the shame from carrying the counterfeit

That's awful, I'm sorry :(. I wonder if the reseller knew (I'm guessing they did.)
