Hi everyone! I'm looking into buying my first designer bag and I've been having a bit of trouble making a decision. I'm in my early 20s, a full-time law school student, and a part-time paralegal. My budget is ~2,000.00 USD.

Here are the bags I'm currently considering and a brief description of why I like them/why I'm hesitant in buying them:
  1. LV Neonoé in Black: I think this bag is really cute and I like that there's a decent amount of interior space and that it's less common than the Neverfull. However, I'm a little concerned with physical longevity and resale value because it's a newer bag, and I don't like the way it looks when worn crossbody. I've also noticed that a lot of women who own this bag are typically older than me.
  2. LV Neverfull MM in DE: I like that this bag is a tote, so I could use it for school (although not a priority), and I like that it's a classic, so I could potentially use it for a very long time. However, a lot of people have this bag where I live and, outside of work and school, I typically wouldn't carry such a big bag.
  3. Gucci GG Marmont Small Matelassé in Black Leather: I think this bag is SO cute and I love that it can be worn three ways and that it has a decent amount of interior space. However, I'm very concerned with the fact it is a "trend" bag and I've seen a lot of people saying that it is currently fading out.
At this point, I'm leaning towards an LV bag because they typically have better resale value and the monogram will generally always be in style. If anyone has one of these bags, I'd appreciate some insight on what you like/don't like about them. And if anyone has any input on how these bags (or any other bags I haven't listed) might fare under my circumstances, I'd appreciate that as well.

Out of these I'd choose the neonoe. My friend has one in red and she absolutely loves it. If you think it is a bit too mature maybe you can consider red or pink for a pop of color but not too overwhelming. I'm not sure about the wear and tear but I don't think you have to worry too much about the resale value. It is a newer bag but the noe has always been an LV staple.
However, if you need a bag that is classic, suitable for leisure and work/school, has good capacity, can be worn in different ways, care-free, and has good resale value, look no further than speedy b.

I'd recommend going for LV Neverfull as it is a very functional bag for many types of things. Especially you're studying. Ignore that everybody has it. Everybody has it for one reason, it's functionality!

I used to have this thinking before, what's with this Neverfull? it's just a super simple bag and I am wondering why everybody's getting it. When I finally acquired one, I understand its popularity.

That's good to hear that your friend loves the neonoé. I've thought about the speedy b 25 in DE but wondered if it'd be too bulky for my frame. I'll definitely have to try it on!

Well I wouldn't get a Neverfull as they are just too common. The Gucci Marmont is very cute, but it could be a trend that is hot for awhile and then fades. The Gucci Soho bags were and still are pretty popular though.

I prefer Neonoe in mono with black trim to black Epi, but I dont think either are an old lady bag.
That was my fear for the Gucci Marmont...
I'm glad to hear your thoughts on the neonoé. I'm definitely feeling more convinced!

You make a good point! I've never actually tried on the Neverfull so maybe that'll help in my decision-making. Thanks for your input!

I would not go for the Gucci as it is too trendy (and kinda over imho).
I think the Neonoé is very beautiful - and the most variable of the three plus the style will last like forever.
