Hello this morning I purchased a PSM, from the LV website (It was available this morning). So this evening 2068 dollars was taken out of my account. I assumed it was from LV, however I received an email from paypal saying this is a farfetch transaction. When I logged into paypal it stated that it was an FF backpack for 1850 (with tax it was 2068) purchased today (I googled it and it was a Fendi backpack). So I was extremely confused, but I knew I didn't use farfetch or paypal to purchase the PSM. I called paypal and she was saying that this was a billing agreement with farfetch. I explained no that made absolutely no sense. I googled the product that I supposedly purchased and I did not purchase that product. She flagged it and told me to call farfetch ( I couldnt get into my account because I didn't remember my password). I spoke to a farfetch rep and they confirmed that someone used my Farfetch account to purchase a Fendi backback. So he flagged it for fraud and cancelled the order (haven't received the funds yet though). I just found it strange that the morning I purchase the PSM, someone used my Farfetch account to purchase a fendi backpack, could this be connected? I used the official Louis Vuitton account bc it was on my wishlist. I am just really worried now.

if this has happened soon after or close to the time you made your purchase it could be a security issue, either with your device? phone, ipad etc or stolen cc details. Were you on a secure connection? using your own phone data? not using wifi in a shopping centre eg. Did someone see you complete the transaction? take your info? There are a number of ways that it could have happened. Locking your CC until its resolved and never using open wifi for purchases is a good start.

It was on my personal computer with my own internet. I was at home when I ordered. TBH, I cannot tell what time it was ordered but I didn't get the alert until approximately 12 hours later and that's when the money came from my account. The person paid through my farfetch with my paypal account. The cc I used for the psm was untouched.

Yes I changed it. I looked at purchasing something on far fetch just to see what happened. It has a one click link to purchase the item through PayPal. I think the issue stemmed from there . I’ve only used farfetch 3 times in 6 years.

Holy smokes! That almost sounds like a potential Farfetch security failure. I found three similar cases posted to the PayPal forums about Farfetch last year:
  • Alert fraudulent activity! Merchandise shipped, "May 05 2020 Farfetch UK Ltd. Payment Loading transaction details for Farfetch UK..."
  • Fraud, "Someone hacked into my PayPal accounting and ordered stuff worth £200..."
  • Help, "Yesterday someone spent 605 euro using my PayPal. I dont know how but he even authorized that transfer to happen..."
I would change passwords on both Farfetch and Paypal and delete merchants you don't use from PayPal Settings > Payments > Manage automatic payments to prevent any future merchant security issues from pulling money out of your account.

Yes thank you, I just found it strange that this happened the exact same day I ordered the PSM. Maybe it’s just a coincidence? I will delete merchants from my farfetch account . I already changed both passwords.

If you used an easy-to-guess password or a password that you use elsewhere too, that might have been problematic. I mean just a few days ago 550 million Facebook accounts have been hacked. So if you use a password across multiple sites, they can attack more easily.

The timing feels coincidential to me. Unless you use the same password for FF and LV, and were on an unsecure connection. But you already said, that you weren't.

I'm still uncertain where the fault lies, but I wanted to mention that I recently purchased an item from Farfetch. I paid through paypal and used an attached credit card. Right after the charge went through, my credit card company flagged a charge for $4,000 to a gaming website in another province and a door dash charge. Both of the charges originated in California, where the Farfetch charge was processed.

I'm so sorry that happened to you! That's insane. Hopefully you're not on the hook for any of the fraud charges.

Welp, I won't be shopping on Farfetch for the foreseeable future.

Hi, this happened to me last week… someone using my Farfetch account and made 3 transactions worth of $9000. Lucky enough i checked my email regularly and managed to cancel 2 of them. However 1 of the transaction is already went to processing and shipped, and FF was unable to cancel or refund it. Luckily i contacted Paypal and after some investigation, they found out it was unauthorised transaction and Paypal paid me back the amount that FF unable to refund.
Before all this happened, I believe i had my Paypal details saved on FF account, hence this hacker went on shopping spree…
Not only this, all 3 transactions got shipped by DHL (i’m not sure how as FF already cancelled 2 of them). The person that accessed my account also requested DHL to redirect the shipments to his address. So i called DHL and explained everything and DHL redirect back the shipment back to the original address (my address). That’s how i received 1 of the parcel. Now waiting for the other 2 to arrive i have also contacted FF and asked what to do with these items, but NEVER get any reply. They are pretty useless…
So lesson learnt from here, never ever put your payment details on any online shopping platform.
