Girls, I need your help

After blind-ordering the ibiza tote basket that I have been drooling over for a long time, I am unsure about how to actually WEAR IT.

is handheld or Arm the only option?!
Due to it being so structured and not soft, I don’t see how one is supposed to wear it on the shoulder - you wouldn’t be able to put your arm down!

I am feeling very underwhelmed with the bag and am so sad about it it’s smaller than I thought but that’s not the issue.

Has anyone attached a (non-branded) additional leather strap to make this tote crossbody?!

How do YOU wear the tote bag - teach me!

I am considering retuning it and getting the drawstring bucket bag instead which from measurements could be like a small small basket. BUT this one can’t be handheld unless you wrap the long strap around your hand.
I did get a good deal on the basket tote though so… I am really torn.

Thoughts, ideas, tips: feel free!

I just purchased the Drawstring Bucket bag. This is my first bag by the brand. I love basket bags, but was also unsure about use as I don’t love hand carry. I’m leaving the country for a vacation in August and needed something I could wear crossbody (handheld isn’t as secure) with a way to close the top. Highly recommend this one.
ETA: I did experiment with a small basket bag (inexpensive, from Mango) last summer. It had handles and a long strap and was slightly larger than the one I just bought. My experience was that it constantly flopped open due to the weight of the handles, making it awkward to carry. It hung away from my body in a weird way. So you might try adding a crossbody strap to your existing bag and seeing how it wears for you. You may or may not have the same issue.

I tried this on at the store and the reason you mentioned was exactly why I didn’t buy it. It so uncomfortable on the shoulder. It’s stiff and hard and totally an armpit bag. Not very elegant that way and the straps were too long for hand carry. I wouldn’t keep a bag just cos I got it at a good price. It’ll just sit in the wardrobe anyway. I’d rather return it and get something you’d actually use.

Update: after having exchanged it for the “perfect to me” square tote in store and actually WEARING I can confirm:

It is indeed very comfortable to wear!
Adjusted to the longer strap length I can wear it on my shoulder. The raffia gets a bit soft, you can easily get ur arm down or just move the bag towards your “back” and take your arm down on your side entirely.

I have used it multiple times all day already and it’s a lot more comfortable than I ever thought.
Thanks for everyone’s input!

Maybe my experience can help others too…

For me, it seemed to be an overthinkers thing and once the bag is “broken in” it’s perfect!
