I’ve unfortunately developed an allergy to my rose gold and stainless steel Cartier watch. I have worn a watch my entire life and I feel quite helpless without a watch. Is there any way I can still wear this watch? Does anyone have any solutions? My husband recommended an Apple watch but I’m pretty sure the bottom is made of stainless steel too.

I don't have a Cartier watch however, there was one point in which I did think that I had an allergy to one of my stainless steel watches.

But I figured out what the problem was. It wasn't an allergy.

I was wearing the watch very tightly, as in, it was always touching my skin without any room for the skin to breath. My sweat would build up under the watch and then my skin would get red and irritated and start to peel.

Give your skin a bit of break, let it breath and see how it is. Maybe wear your watch on the other hand for the time being or wear it more loosely.

Do you have any other stainless steel or gold jewelry? If you don't have an allergic reaction from those, it may not be an allergy.

Good luck!

Hmmm…it may be too tight. It is fitted. I don’t have any other issues with wearing jewelry. Generally it will start to get better if I don’t wear the watch. Once I start wearing it again, the itchy blisters reappear.

So sorry this is happening to you
Is there a specific type of nail polish to use? Wouldn’t it damage the watch?
Had same problem & my regular nail polish brand in clear worked fine. I’d try cutting what ever bandaid brand you use first & if that works go to a good jeweller & ask what they recommend. Better to use a professional. Wouldn’t want to stick your watch together permanently.

Good luck!

Hi, I’m allergic to… gold?!?!?? Or I was, Go figure. In the recent years I started wearing gold for a couple hours and slowly got to the point where l don’t have to take it of, strange no? Anyhow, l use to put piece of bandage on the inside of it making sure to cover any gold. The glue is strong enough to stay put and doesn’t leave any glue residue. I did that for years.

I second the possibility of heat rash, especially if you have no other issues with costume jewelry type pieces. Can you take the watch to Cartier for a cleaning and perhaps to add back a link for some breathing room?
