I tried to post on the reference section but I do not have permission. I store my LV DE Speedy 35 in its dustbag. I took it out recently, and it looked like the dark brown leather portion was hazy, like a cloudiness was on the leather. Has this ever happened to anyone and what did you do to fix it. It is an older model. It is not matte leather.

I don't have this issue with other handbags being stored in their dustbags in the same area of my closet. We have central air, and it isn't humid.

Wanted to check in here before I try anything. Does anyone have any ideas?

All input is much appreciated.

It wasn’t an LV bag, but I did notice the same thing happen to a leather bag I have. I just buffed it out with a rag and it went back to normal. I should probably put some leather conditioner on it. After all, leather is just skin and probably just needs to be moisturized.

Can you post photos?
here are some photos I know the lighting is terrible but I tried my best. Its like a white overcast like the leather is sweating this powder. I tried conditioner but it didn't seem to work.

Will try a deep moisturizer. It is weird, like a ghost of an overcast. I have Black Leather Epi 35 in a dustbag in the same area, and its just fine. Thank you for all your responses. They are appreciated a great deal.  It may be just me, but I panicked because I haven't seen this before.

How old is your bag?

How old is your bag?

I purchased the pre-owned bag in 2017. I am not quite sure how old it is. I purchased it in like new condition. Had it authenticated. Had no issues with anything else. The bag is wonderful. Maybe an oil will absorb better.

Heard from someone that this is "bloom". It happens when the oils leech out and crystalize on the surface. I need to heat up the leather and apply the conditioner so it really sinks in. I only experienced bloom before on a pair of wellies I had for awhile. The only thing that took it off was oil.

***UPDATE*** - I used a blow dryer over the affected areas and then introduced some neatsfoot oil. Worked like a charm. The conditioner I previously applied didn't sink in but sat on the surface. The heat allowed the leather to become pliable and I massaged the affected areas. They look brand new.
