I am currently debating which bag to purchase. I fell madly in love with the look of the triomphe bag but the medium size is out of my budget. I discovered the wallet on chain and for 1500 euro its a steal. I get the triomphe look of the bag but better price.

I am also contemplating if i should buy the ysl sunset bag preloved as it is the same price as the wallet on chain. I love the look of this bag and would get a ”real” bag/purse for the same price.

What are your thoughts?

I love both bags. These are my top two ultimate favourite bags.

I'd choose the Sunset medium (because I think it'll have more use due to the size - I have this bag and I want to get another one) but I think it's more expensive - around 2100 euros?

I want to get the medium Triomphe. The WOC is cute, too.

Given that the bag you liked was the Celine medium triomphe, would you feel like you "settled" with either of these two bags? I ask because whenever I buy a less expensive bag to scratch an itch, I end up still wanting the more expensive bag and purchasing it in the end. If you think you'd feel that way, I'd recommend not purchasing either one and waiting for the medium triomphe that you really wanted.

If you don't think you'd feel that way, though, both of these bags are gorgeous and a good choice in their own right.

Have you gone into the stores to try on the bags and put your everyday items in?

I feel that the main issue would be space.

I am no a WOC person, and the thinness of a WOC has never worked out for me, so I'm a bit wary of the Celine.

Some YSL bag collections run small, especially when they use treated or stiffer leathers, it can make the bag quite unforgiving when it comes to opening up space.
The YSL bag would probably provide more space than the Celine but would it be enough for what you want to carry in it?

If you love something in a different size, do not setting for a size that is more affordable. In my experience, it has not ended well and did not work out for me.
Would you consider waiting a little longer and saving up a bit more for what you really want?

The celine triomphe has to be one of the most elegant motifs/logo but it isn't seen all over the place like the double c or "ysl" or "gg". Go with your heart but I don't think there is a competition to be had here...

...However, as you love the medium Celine, if you see yourself buying that in the near future, you might not like that you have the wallet on chain as well. In that case, go for with the ysl and you'll have a more rounded selection of bags if you get the bag you want most later on :)

Echoing what everyone says! Try them both, see which fits your style, wardrobe, and needs better. Also silver vs. gold hardware is an important decision. Both are nice, so this comes down to what you actually are looking for.

I completely agree that the Celine Triomphe is extremely elegant and not "in your face" like so many other logos/brands. It's sort of "if you know, you know." That's one of the (many) reasons why I love Celine.

I vote for the Triomphe. Even if it is small, it looks beautiful and I don't think it is something to tire of. YSL seems to be everywhere. For me, if I were deciding between the two, I would ask myself do I love the bag regardless of the logo shown on it or am I really buying it for the brand/logo?

Definitely try both on in store if you can. That is very important.

For context: I don't currently own a Celine bag (but have always loved the Triomphe -- I own the Triomphe belt and LOVE it -- and am newly eyeing the belt bag pico) but I do own a Sac de Jour that I originally admired because it was more understated than other Saint Laurent/YSL bags.

I was obsessed with and used to own that exact YSL sunset bag but sold it because it wasn’t as spacious as it looks and was really heavy. I can only wear it for a couple of hours and my shoulder starts to hurt and I only carry the bare essentials like phone, card case and car key.
I didn’t own any Celine when I bought the YSL bag but now after owning both brands, I generally find Celine quality to be better. Of course it’s also more expensive but I feel like you still get more bang for your buck with the design and leather quality. I’m also biased because I love Celine and my ultimate favorite line is the Triomphe. The woc seems to fit more than a normal woc from other brands but echoing everyone else, it’s best to try both of them on if you can. Or watch some videos about what fits in each and see if either fits your needs and lifestyle.

I love the celine and would try to save up for it. It is such a classic bag that will go with anything, dressed up or down and will always be a classic. Do not settle for the YSL, which seems like you are wanting it just because it is cheaper but it sounds like your heart is set on the celine. I have purchased the cheaper item to try and scratch an itch and it only works for a short period of time because I ultimately am dissatisfied and end up saving up for the more expensive option

The Celine is much more elegant than the YSL imo. I have the Celine Triomphe in teen size and love it, though I still find it a bit small for my casual/everyday outing needs. I struggle fitting in my house keys, let alone bulky car keys in it, along with a thin coin-sized wallet. :P

I've been eyeing the WOC (that's how I found this post!) because I just love the Triomphe line, and I would say to go with the WOC only if you carry very little (cards, phone, a few thin things). Otherwise, definitely save up for a larger Triomphe if you can!
