Help! Can’t decide - Speedy b 25 or YSL Puffer small.

I can’t decide which bag to get next! I want a carefree bag when it comes to weather, I don’t want to worry about rain or snow (or toddler messes LOL). I have a speedy b 25 in azur and love it! I love how comfortable the strap is, it’s lightweight, and not structured when not full ( but love the option to fit a lot).

I am currently debating between the black Saint Laurent puffer in the small size and LV speedy b 25in DE ( open to other suggestions). Any thoughts? I can’t try the puffer in store so would need to rerun if I don’t like it.

I tried ordering the YSL small puffer (black on black HW) twice... both times it came damaged with scuffs/scratches all over the bag. The lambskin is just very sensitive. I made a topic about it here (link)... From Neiman's it even came in a trashy shoe box and horribly packaged, and both bags came with sloppy, cheap duct tape on the ripped chain wrapper which just screams $2500+ luxury... I had no problems returning either bags but YSL did not care whatsoever about my email complaint (no response) so I will not be getting anything YSL again because of the whole experience, lol. In (department) stores I have also never seen one that doesn't have some type of scratch on it. It is definitely not a carefree bag like every youtuber who has it says it is, the speedy is indestructible in comparison and I've personally never gotten a damaged or poorly constructed item from LV knock on wood.

I have a couple of YSL puffer bags and a speedy B30. I would not consider the puffer carefree especially compared to the Speedy. The leather on the damier ebene makes it easy to carry in all types of weather. And of course you don't have to worry about scratching with the canvas.

Oh wow! Thank you for sharing and I’m sorry you had that experience. I didn’t think much about scratches just weather but I think that will definitely be an issue for me.

The puffer is gorgeous. You do have to be careful with it as it scratches. Speedy in DE is more carefree. The 25 size is too big for my liking. There should be a 20 coming towards the ending of the year.

Thanks for the input! Do you find the DE strap comfortable as a crossbody with your speedy? I have seen some say it is and some say it ain’t.

I don't have a problem with the strap, but I don't carry a lot. It might depend on how much you carry and the weight. I carry around my recto verso, key pouch, phone, and hand sanitizer.

I have the speedy b 25 in DE, and the YSL puffer small (black with SHW). Since the speedy is coated canvas with treated leather it’s definitely much more carefree and durable. I personally get way more excited using my small puffer because it’s so soft and squishy, and feels luxurious. It’s lambskin so comparing the 2 is apples to oranges. It will be less carefree for sure. But compared to other lambskin bags I find it fairly durable. The strap on the puffer will be much more comfortable than the Ebene treated leather strap. However, if you’re looking for something purely as being more carefree you’ll want to go with DE canvas.

If you’re looking for a durable bag, I’d get the speedy. I have the small puffer and it still looks new, however, I’m careful when using it. It feels more luxurious when carrying it.

Thanks for the feedback, making my decision tough! I am concerned the strap on the speedy won’t be comfortable so definitely something to consider.
