Help, buying my first birkin

Hello ladies. I am new here and need all the help I can get.

I am ready to make the plunge and have started a nice relationship with a local SA. I was at the store last weekend to buy a belt for DH and my SA asked if I knew exactly what I wanted. I felt like such an amateur because I haven't yet made up my mind. I know I want the 35 cm but am undecided about the color, i fluctuate between gold and red. Does anybody have a birkin in vermillion or garance? Would you share a photo? Any thoughts on which to pick?

I don't have either color, but I've heard people say before that they put their name down for an alternative in case the combination they are looking for isn't available, or one comes in sooner. Could you possibly do that?

In any case, my preference is for red. I think red Birkins are beautiful.

I think Vermillion has orange undertone whereas Rouge Garance has blue. Both are gorgeous colour though. Have you thought about the leather?

hello ladies and any gents out there...I'm also a relatively new member of tPF w/o many posts but I've been lurking and everyone here seem so nice and knowledgeable. I've dreamed about owning a Birkin for years and I'm finally making the plunge toward my first Birkin purchase. However, I'm a bit torn b/twn a swift and a togo. I read that the togo is much more stain resistant and will hold its shape much longer but I'm in love w/ this color which only comes in swift. Does anyone have any info. or wisdom on owning & maintenance of a swift? I would really appreciate any advice or opinions anyone may have. Thanks much in advance!!

I have similar questions about the leather. And thanks for the many votes for a red birkin. I am settled. Only need to decide which red of course.

i'd go for gold first. Gold is very versatile, it'll go with any color and u'll get more use out of it.
