I'm still a highschool student who's birthday is coming up soon & I dream of owning a Birkin bag. I want to know the cheapest one that I could probably save up for... or just any pretty Hermes bag :p

The best prices will be on pre-owned bags. Even then most Birkins will be USD $5k + the cheapest Birkin you could get new would be a 25cm in Epsom (hard to find). There are a ton of other beautiful bags though. The Lindy is very versatile and age appropriate as are the Picotin and Evelyn.

The Massai is another really nice bag that might be within your budget. Sandia has had some very well priced pre-owned Birkins recently (I believe she had a green one for just over $4k earlier). If you look through the threads you'll find some other great used Hermes sellers.

but isn't using a second hand Birkin bag slightly weird? What if it has been damaged by the time it reaches me or something? I'm really sorry to be a bother.. I'm new at this

Yes, it is likely that a second hand Birkin will have some damage. Many of us on the forums are OK with that, but not everyone is. There are a lot of nice second hand bags that look basically new (generally more expensive than ones with more wear). The least expensive Birkin you could buy new would probably be a 25cm in Epsom leather, but that will still cost you over USD $6K. The great thing about Hermes bags is that many second hand bags can be brought to almost new condition by Hermes for only a few hundred dollars.

It would be helpful to know your budget.

Honestly, my budget is limited at the moment. Let's say around $4200 only. Insane, right? I must be dreaming... Oh, well. Btw, I checked the sandia exchange's site, and it's really interesting! Thank you so much for recommending! The only thing that worries me is that, by the time the bag reaches me.. it might look awfully old or something :( which would be really disappointing. I've never gotten anything from ebay yet.. so if i spend a huge amount in ebay, would it be safe?

My Birkin dream is slowly fading away... *sniff*

Sandia is very good. I would not worry about it. I think that BBB is a good start. Box is a great choice for the first one.

She will pack it nicely so I would not worry about damage in transportation.

I personally wouldn't worry about damage in transportation, I think almost all sellers will insure their bags to avoid lost or damage. Pre-owned birkins might show here and there tears/wears or scratches which for some people are fine but not for others. If you feel that you can't tolerate any flaws, perhaps you should save more money and buy directly from the store as kiddo suggested :D Good luck, girlie

Hmmm... I think with limited budgets, second hand would be your best bet. However, if you don't mind waiting, then save up more and buy it directly from H! Nothing beats having a crisp spankin' new B directly from H! (And it's coming from me, who practically stalks K-place and Sandiaexchange LOL)

if u'r worry about ebay or 2nd hand... y not save up more and buy a new one at the boutique? i know the wait is difficult, but trust me, it's so worth it!!

Sadly, I think I have to agree with you. I'll just try to save up as much as I can for the moment. After all, a pre-owned Birkin wouldn't feel as good as a brand new one. I thought about it, thanks to all of you... and I realized, if I get a B bag worth $4k that is already slightly worn out, the satisfaction wouldn't be present in me. Thank you soo much for all the advices & wish me all the luck I can get in saving up for my most ever dream bag :D Thank you, guys! I really appreciate every single comment that had taken time to explain the Hermes rules for me, or whatever it is. I can always get another fab bag for my bday anyway, any suggestions? Haha. Ty again.
