Heather Mills makes domestic violence allegations

I am reminded of the opinions that were voiced here regarding the John Mark Karr case and as we know the DNA didn't match and yes, false confessions have been made throughout history when delusional people want to inject themselves in a famous crime. People also lie in court, it's called perjury.

I don't believe Heather Mills for one second.

Tell us how you really feel.;)

HeHeHe!

I just couldn't take their smug hypocrisy for one minute longer, LOL!!! :cursing:

I hate the tabloids. :yucky: Can you tell?

I can't disagree - the Sun is one of the worst hack papers ever printed, and I hated having to use them to prove anything, but I have seen several of the allegations made on that list in other, unrelated sources. I just don't have them anymore.

I've been wondering though (and this is purely my overactive brain at work here) what we'd be saying if it was Paul who'd accused Heather of abuse? No judgment, I just got to thinking about it earlier.

I imagine that many people who have commented on this thread would find that far easier to believe, as the press have painted Paul as a saint and Heather as a devil and physical abuse is about the only thing she hasn't been acused of.....yet.

Personally, I would be very sympathetic to any man who suffered abuse at the hands of a woman.

Nobody should suffer physical abuse, regardless of their gender, or personality.

As I said before, as far as I'm concerned, the only reason why it is even more unacceptable for a man to be physically abusive to a woman, is that men are physically stronger and with power comes responsibility.

Of course. Opinions are good, IMO!

BTW, I'm not really on either side, as none of us know, for anywhere near sure, what went on.

But, I felt I had to respond to all the massive conclusions that seemed to be being jumped to...

There are many reasons why women get pregnant without intending to; ranging from bad reactions to contraceptives, to contraceptive failure, to just getting carried away...:graucho:

I'm a woman and I have got pregnant unintentionally in he past (and I certainly wasn't trying to ensnare anyone!).
I think you are (perhaps) responding based on your personal experience, - I think comtraceptive failure is relatively rare - and she didn't need to snare him, he already married her - I just think that in a new marriage like that where there is a bunch of money involved, it's probably a good idea to wait 10 minutes before you bring a baby into it. Again, JMO!!

I always believed he was seeking some kind of publicity?!? :s

Of course, my personal experience will affect the way I evaluate things, just as yours will affect you. But if you read my posts, you will see that I am generally quite an objective person and tend to make a lot of my comments based on my general knowledge, rather than solely on what has happened to me.

It could be argued that your feeling that women don't 'just get pregnant' is heavily based on your own experiences, too. Perhaps you are a very controlled, methodical person when it comes to sex (not a criticism, BTW :flowers: )?

I agree, contraceptive failure is relatively rare, although, not nearly as rare, for some methods, as you might expect:

Method........................Failure rate (%).........Pregnancies per 10,000 women per year

None.................................85.00%...................................8500
Cervical cap.......................30.00%...................................3000
Sponge.............................30.00%....................................3000
Spermicides........................21.00%...................................2100
Female condom...................21.00%...................................2100
Periodic abstinence..............21.00%...................................2100
Withdrawal.........................20.00%...................................2000
Diaphragm..........................18.00%...................................1800
Male condom......................12.00%...................................1200
Oral contraceptives...............3.00%....................................300
Progesterone-T IUD...............2.00%....................................200
Copper IUD...........................0.40%.................................... 40
Injectable contraceptive.........0.30%.....................................30
Tubal ligation........................0.17%.....................................17
Combined oral contraceptive....0.08%......................................8
Vasectomy...........................0.04%......................................4

From [1] except combined oral contraceptive, calculated from [2].

It is interesting to note that it is 3% for the (non-combined) pill, which, coincidentally, is (according to Roo) about as rare as false allegations of domestic abuse, in the US!

However, getting carried away, particularly when you are married/in a serious relationship and thinking; 'Well, even if I get pregnant, it wouldn't be the end of the world, would it?!' is pretty common, I should imagine.

I agree, it would be a very good idea to wait and plan, but life, love and hormones don't always run on good ideas...

I wonder, since we seem to be so interested in statistics on this thread, what was the nature of the failures in the 3% sited? If oral contraceptives are not taken everyday at approximately the same time of day then failure is probable. If you then engage in unprotected sex during this time, especially right before, during, or after ovulation, conception is highly probable.

Any oral contraceptive is only as good as the person who is taking it. If someone is forgetful and then gets pregnant, who's at fault - the pill or the person?

Just wondering if those failures are attributed to chemical malfunctions of the pill itself or to human error? Perhaps the more informed members here can fill us in.

BTW, what does this have to do with whether or not HM allegations are false?????:wondering

^ Good question.

It shouldn't really have anything to do with it, should it? :shrugs:

In the same way that all the things tabloids, like The Sun, have accused her of shouldn't really, either.

I didn't bring the subject up, but I suppose it is inevitable that people will mention things that they feel have a link to the subject - including possible personality flaws.

My posts were simply replies to one of the things SuziZ accused Heather of. I assume she was attempting to demonstrate how devious and conniving she believes Heather is, by saying that she thinks Heather was trying to trap Paul from the start:

SuziZ said:
Nobody really knows anything about this private business but there are a lot of questions in my mind.

1) Why does a gazillionaire mogul NOT insist on a pre-nup?

2) Why is there an immediate pregnancy - when the marriage is so new and unpredictable? Surely Paul didn't push for this. I see it as a way of locking Paul in forever - regardless of where the marriage went.

3) When accusing your husband of unspeakable abuse in the public media, does the mother not realize the damage that will be done to her daughter in the not too distant future, when she is old enough to be aware of this trashing of her father?

4) If we do not think of our children's welfare first, what else could possibly matter?

...and...

Well you and I are clearly on different wave lenghths on this matter and so be it - I thinkthis is pretty much an opinion forum!!! Anyway neither of us know anything besides our opinion - and I don't really think that women "just get pregnant"

BTW, I'm sure you can Google 'contraceptive failure rates' and 'causes of failed contraception' as well as I can.

Did the tabloids "accuse" her of posing in the nude and doing soft porn? I thought she actually did that.

Did the tabloids "accuse" her of lying about it? I thought she actually did that too. She only admitted to it when confronted with the photographs.

If lying is one of her "personality flaws" then I think it important to mention it because the possibility exists that her allegations could be false.

I don't think she got pregnant to snare him. She didn't need to. She was already married to him - and without a pre-nup.

I'd love to Google that information, BTW, but, since it has absolutely no bearing on what we're talking about in this thread, I'll save my Google time to searching for better deals on my favorite handbags.

Who knows what she actually did?

Unfortunately, once the tabloids get involved, the truth disappears in a cloud of sensationalism.

As I mentioned, before, I think technically, it was a sex guide, not pornography (not that there is much difference in reality, I grant you).

I agree, although someone lying about doing a sex guide (out of shame), is not necessarily an indication that the same person would lie about something so serious as being physically abused.

A lot of people do things, when they are very young, that they would prefer to forget about when they are older and wiser.

That's my opinion, as well.
