So I stopped in my local jewelers today to have a ring resized and to look at some diamond pendants for my anniversary. I've looked at Tiffany dbty necklaces which I love, but wanted to see if I could get the same look for less by going to a local jeweler without paying for the Tiffany name. They had some beautiful necklaces that very much look like the dbty but honestly they were pretty identical in price. They were Hearts on Fire diamonds and they were beautiful, but I'm wondering if I'm paying as much for that brand name as I am for Tiffany. I am certainly no diamond expert, but what do you think? Is HOF really extra special or would just a regular old diamond be just as lovely? If it matters, the stones I'm looking at are not very large at all. The one I tried on today was a .19 in 18k white gold for $1500. I think I could get that size stone in a Tiffany dbty for about that price in platinum. Opinions? :smile1:

They're lovely diamonds but I think they are RIDICULOUSLY overpriced. OF the two brands I'd buy the HOF over a tiffany any day, cut quality of the diamond alone. But either way you're paying for a name.

If you're just buying the diamond, I wouldn't bother with either Tiffany's or HOF, because you can get a perfectly cut, AGS000 diamond for a lot less than either of those brands charge for lower quality diamonds. I agree with Ame that HOF is generally better than Tiffany's for the diamond alone, though I'm sure Tiffany can get you a perfectly cut, hearts and arrow diamond as well, but for a premium.
However, since you're looking at a relatively small diamond, it really comes down to the minor details like, the chain width you like, the style of the DBTY bezel, length, etc. You can also buy your own triple excellent diamond and have it set by your own jeweler or someone like Brian Gavin, but make sure you like the chain/bezel first.
Hope this helped! Good luck!

in my opinion, Heart On Fire price is tooo high sooo high soooo over.
Normal people couldn't figure it out if HOF or H&A ;(
If you don't mind about an over price, it is a good choice.
I wish I could have one XD

If it's a solitaire u're looking at, i won't get hof, cos beautiful as they are hof diamonds are overpriced. Altho i must agree that between hof and tiffany, i would prefer hof any day.

It's different if you are looking at a specific design though, like the one Candice posted, for example. I bought a hof fulfillment necklace last year cos i love that design and while i found some similar & cheaper pieces in other stores, they just dont look the same. The workmanship is also different.

For the same reason, i will be getting a Tiffany dbty for my birthday this year cos strangely, this particular style necklace cannot be found in other stores where i live (i don't live in the States), and i can't be bothered to custom make one.

If, however, the style of necklace u want is easily available, it will be worthwhile to look around elsewhere.

Today i saw HOF IRL for the first time. yes fulfillment necklace is really beautiful. But too expensive! I didn't see Candice's peace there, probably too new for AU. :-) I also would choose now HOF over Tiffany's. thou I wore Tiffany's aquamarine aria necklace and got many complements even from jewelers. I luv some of the Tiffany items as they r very beautiful and dainty. I would buy HOF but not for the retail price. :-) but I guess same applies to most Tiffany I like..

I like the comet pendant, but it is expensive....but it's also .85 total ctw....so I think it's worth it.

I wish I could see it in person first. I might try to find a retailer....

must save ! lol:amuse:

Hi everyone,
So my partner and I brought my engagement ring this week, i have been looking at hearts on fire diamonds, they seem to be really highly rated.....We brought a second hand HOF diamond ring which in the shops would be £4,500! i got it for just over £850, But its 1 size too small.
After doing some research apparently hearts on fire diamond rings cannot be resized due to the diamond on the shoulders, Has anyone had their HOF ring resized? if so by how much? My ring is size H, im size I, but it was the only HOF diamond i could find that i loved and could afford as i won it on ebay auction.
So, is HOF all its cracked up to be? what are the diamonds like? are they resizable? do they have a warranty? Thank you x

I don't have a HOF diamond but I did have a ring resized which had diamonds on the shoulders. I bought the ring from H Samuel in the smallest size & they made it smaller for me. They had to take the diamonds out of the shoulders before they could resize it. It can definitely be done!
