Have you removed leather strap from Nolita 19?

Has anyone removed the leather strap from an outlet Nolita? If so, how did you do it?

I feel like the strap is not the best quality and it makes noise. I'd rather use one of my own straps/chains (and switch out options). I kinda want to remove it safely instead of just cutting it off so that it can be reused at some point.

I didn’t cut mine off, but flipped it, and fed it under the zipper and stuffed it down inside the bag. Can’t even tell it’s there.

That is a nice option and what I used to do with my mini pochette but I know it will irritate me. I think I am just going to gently cut the thread at the end of the strap so that it can still be used if I want to in the future. I may even look at adding a clip/clasp to that side so it becomes a removable strap to use/not use whenever.

If you haven't removed it already, and don't want to, you can wrap it under the bag and clip it on the other side. It will remain snugly in place and out of the way and add protection for the bottom.

Not with a Nolita but other things, I have cut the thread stitches at the side (both sides). Typically then I just pull gently & it comes apart. I remove any loose threads. If I want to reattach (which is usually what I do, because I'm changing out hardware) I just put the leather tab back into place, a dab of Gorilla Glue, put a small clamp on it overnight & by morning I'm good to go. Sounds like a lot but it's worked well for me.

You make it sound so easy. You are far more crafty/talented than I am. I think I may try it on something I bought in EUC for a steal that won't bother me if I mess up first. I like the idea of changing out hardware on things.

That is impressive! Will gorilla glue hold the weight of a small sized handbag? I'm picturing the stitches have been cut (on the strap or attachment for the strap) and glued back together.

In my experience, yes. However when I changed out hardware for a regular sized shoulder bag, I did all the steps I outlined but I then when in with some matching thread & a heavy duty needle & put some stitches in the same holes just to be sure. Have never had a problem. I think it's important to use the glue & CLAMP it at least overnight. I think I got my clamps at Harbor Freight but I've attached a pic of some from Amazon here. The rubber tips prevent any damage or marks. I've also attached a photo of the glue I use.

Thank you! I haven't tried this, but I've used E6000 as an adhesive and wondered if there was a better glue. I'm saving this idea. :) Thank you for sharing the clamps and exact Gorilla Glue. I've tried the wood version and it hasn't worked well for me.
