Have you ever had to file your social security # ordering a bag from another country?

Hi, I posted this in the shopping forum, too, but no one has answered, and I really need to know - I ordered a bbag from Canada from bagpassion and it's stuck in customs. Want my bag, but want to be sure this is legit before I send out my social security number:

I ordered a bag from Canada, to be delivered to USA - is it normal for FedEx to call you from customs and required you to file a form with your SS# with them? Just want to make sure before I go sending out my SS#. Not a big fan of this! Has this ever happened to anyone? They want to keep it on file, too.

No I haven't before. I wouldn't give my SS to anyone. I would write bagpassion.

Thanks, it does make me nervous. Maybe I'll see if they will take my passport number intstead?
