My mom is turning 56 this year, and she loves jewelry. I do not have a lot of money to spend, but I want to get her something decent. She does not wear costume. My mom wears many different gemstones, and she is definately a colorful lady. My mom has a lot of jewelry, so it must be different.

What should I get?

If you are not opposed to pre-owned, have you tried looking at pawn shops? For $150 you might be able to get something really special but it would be a time consuming search process. Check the pawn shop thread to get an idea of the things that other users have been able to find. I recently got a darling oval sapphire surrounded by diamonds ring for $100 including tax.

If she likes colorful jewelry, how about a gemstone bead necklace? In that price range you can't buy one at Tiffany's but you can buy a nice one many other places.

From Tiffany's I always like the sterling purse pens, don't know if that's what you had in mind though.

Does she like pearls? There are a lot of fwp options. I like Michael Dawkins line for QVC if she likes pearls and silver....Just some suggestions.

QVC would be a good place to look. She likes colorful necklaces. Tiffany's is lovely, but that would be something I like- my mom is not into name brands. She likes things that are different and colorful.

I think both are beautiful choices. I like the pearls best, but I guess that's a matter of personal preference. Funny, I was thinking Ross-Simons would have some nice things too. :smile1:

I think I am leaning towards the pearls as well. I am going to Ross Simons tomorrow, so I will see which looks better in person.

Thank you to all of you. I will let you know what I get. :)

OP, the necklace you chose from Ross Simons is so pretty! You picked a good company there, I've bought a lot of things from them and every single thing was perfect.
