I bought very pre-loved Sojo Disco for a smaking great price, but she is a little shabby. Loss of shape, loss of color (lots of black dirt), and nasty texture (I could feel the dirt build up). Other than the shape, color and texture--what a great bag! (Haha, this is actually true). After multiple cleanings and conditionings, she is much better, but I still find myself wanting to restore the color.
I have use leather paint to recolor a bag, and I have had a leather bag touched up by my cobbler. I don't want to sacrifice the texture after all the work I've put into her. I've never heard of recoloring leather balm until yesterday. It looks interesting.
Please friends, help me think about this.
Pros:
Such a great bag deserves restored color. I would like this bag in less shabby condition but am not willing to buy another.
Pro of leather color balm, I think this would give me the nicest finished texture, but I don't really know. Also, very cost effective.
Pro of hiring a cobbler (touch up or recolor)--he would have to deal with the tassel. Oy, the tassel.
Cons:
I am certain to lose the contrast stitching. Bummer, but could live with it.
Con of me using leather balm, I am certain to mess up the tassel. The tassel looks impossible.
Con of me using leather balm, there is not a direct match, but Furniture Clinic Recoloring Balm says it isn't an issue (like those makeups for all complextions).
Leather dye might change the texture and she feels SO BUTTERY soft right now. Not crazy about that, but don't know how true it is. Lamb is more of an issue.
Con of coloring balm--Really, the same. Have no idea what it would feel like.
I don't know, what do you think. I think it's the tassel that prevents me from being able to make a decision. I don't even know if a cobbler would touch that.
