Personally I would never buy an enhanced diamond, which is what this site sells.

You're in my area -- have you ever gone to the Jewelry Mart in SF? They have awesome prices.

I was interested in this site because they have a what looks like a fabulous 6 carat diamond for a great price. I noticed it was enhanced diamonds which I don't know anything about? No I have never been to the Jewelry Mart. I will have to check them out.

i don't recommend enhanced diamonds. they really lower the value of the diamond, can make the diamond brittle and prone to breakage, and certain enhancements will fade over time, leaving u with an ugly looking stone. be wary and do your research - in terms of diamonds, it's usually better to spend ur money on a smaller and better quality stone (even if a 6 carat rock sounds great!)

To answer your question, no, I have not heard of bigdiamondsusa.

I personally wouldn't purchase a clarity enhanced diamond, but I guess there is a market for them or they wouldn't exist. Just be mindful that you must take extra care of an enhanced diamond and not let it near extremely hot water or ammonia products.

One thing to keep in mind is that resale on any diamond is pretty low, but resale on clarity enhanced is almost nothing.

Diamonds can be enhanced in two ways. Lasers can erase imperfections and the results are permanent and do not weaken the stone. Fracture filling, however, can wear away, be degraded by sunlight and can weaken the stone, making it more prone to fractures.

It is up to you, but I would choose a smaller, natural stone over a larger enhanced stone. If you do decide to go with an enhanced diamond, get it in writing what enhancement was done, and what - if any - guarantee it carries.

Here's info for one of the stores in the Jewelry Mart. This is where I got my engagement ring and they had the best prices in the city.

Note: you cannot get in unless you have a pass. It's not open to the general public. But if you get a pass to one store you can visit all the other ones in the building.

You can also email them and they will put you on the list at the front desk. You will have to give your name when you walk in.
