has anyone ever had their jeans taken in at the waist?

I had my Balmain jeans taken in at the waist, it worked out fine and there was even detailing on the waist. However I think the size was 'weird'. It was perfect for my legs, but huge at my waist.

Yep - I end up pulling my jeans waist up all day long if I dont get the waist taken in. They look great too, cant tell it was ever done. Use a good tailor though, not a dry cleaners with alterations.

I am happy to hear this. I also have a pair of Current/elliott legging jeans that seemed to fit perfectly at first but after wearing them only once, they are too big in the waist. I figured that sizing down would make them too tight everywhere else. I have a pair of their skinny jeans on the way that are supposedly TTS but I am worried the same thing will happen! Glad to know that tailoring the waist is an option.
