Has anybody seen this Louis Vuitton Strap before?

Hi all. I recently purchased a vintage Louis Vuitton Jeune Fille PM from a reputable Japanese seller. The bag authentic and is in very good condition for its age (1989), but my concern is the strap. I know this is not the original strap and has obviously been replaced, but I have never seen a Louis Vuitton strap the way the buckle is stitched in place and the vachetta leather folds over to the top? Can anybody tell me if they have seen this configuration on a LV strap before? Thank you.

The strap on the Jeune Fille MM was not detachable, so any replacement would impact the rest of the adjacent vachetta. You didn’t show the sides where the strap meets the bag, so I’m curious how much was replaced. Was this alteration done by LV, do you know?

Anyway, maybe elaborate on what exactly you're asking about.

This particularJeune Fille model has the strap that threads through the side of the bag that can be detatched. I know the strap’s not original as for one the buckle and loop on the original strap were stitched in significantly different to this particular strap. I’m not savvy on newer versions of Louis Vuitton straps and wondered if it was not authentic. I was just asking if anybody has the same strap and can verify if Louis Vuitton manufactured a newer version like this.IMG_2701.jpegIMG_2700.jpeg

I checked quite a few listings and all of them had the leather on top. The only real difference from the rest is that on all of them the buckle and the little belt is not separated by a stitch line. On this one they are. My guess is that this was a repair, and the craftsman did it the new way, how they are doing these strap connection on everything in the past 2 decades.

The side these rectangular shape leather pieces and piping look like from original 80s, the strap look like replaced once in late 90s - 2000s, the craftsmanship look like done by LV. The top buckle (I meant the top leather piece in the front to buckle ) looks like been replaced, this piece doesn’t look like was done by a good skilled LV craftsman. Just my speculation.

Thank you for your input. I appreciate your opinion as I’m not really sure what to think. Thanks again

Thank you for your opinion and sharing your knowledge. I really appreciate it as I myself am uncertain on this particular strap for this bag.
