Personally I find the brushed Palladium understated and rather cool looking. From a wear point of view it has not scratched at all. Looks good as a contrast with the graphite box which is rather shiny ( i rub the leather quite often with a very soft cloth). This is the best close up I can do.

I love both the brushed palladium and the brushed gold. (It looks gorgeous on your Graphite, Bababebi.)

Has anyone seen any brushed gold on bags in boutiques recently? (Not belts or other small leather goods........) None of my SA's know much about it and all have said that they haven't seen it offered for a long while.

Duna's last Birkin has brushed gold hardware.

Just wanted to add, I've found that my brushed hardware makes the scratches just a bit more obvious.

I have brushed Pall hardware on one of my bags, it's beautiful, but I would agree with HG about the scratching.

Also, I have recently been advised ruthenium is special order only for bags - one of the cons of this hardware (according to the store) is the tarnishing, which is why they are phasing it out.

Anyone have close-ups of diamond h/w - LOL!?

By the way, gold hardware, because of the nature of gold has more of a tendancy to show scratches than palladium, but the hardware can be replaced if the scratching gets too bad.

I have a vintage bag with brass hardware, it seems to have held up FAR better than pall or gold, over the years.

I have to agree with this. The brass just holds up far better. It also has that old money feel to it. Probably because IMO it's not so "in your face" as the 24K gold plate.

Thank you for the great brushed palladium pic...it is a great pic!

So, brushed hardware shows scratches more? Interesting. I did not know that. I appreciate all this info you all are adding to the thread.

No one has talked about ruthenium. Is it still available or discontinued? I specifically asked about ruthenium as my SO, and was told it's been discontinued by Paris. Has anyone heard the same? I'm confused reading other ladies still being able to order it.

^^ MrsS, Moviegirl did mention that RH is the standard on Lizard JPG Kelly. So I wonder if Paris will only continue it on this small bag.

Makes me wonder why it wouldn't be available as SO though. I'll ask next time I am in store.

Well, keep in mind that when discussing SO's we can sometimes be talking years before your order is even processed. While they may have ruthenium now, it may not be available in the future. H may be playing it safe by saying it's not available now in anticipation of impending discontinuation.
