Hi, I did a search and tried reading through the sticky threads, but didn't see exactly what I was looking for. I do have a contemporary Coach bag purchased at an outlet store (can't remember exactly what year but if I had to guess it was between 2010 and 2014). The tag/receipt says "KRST LTH EW CRBY" (in case it isn't clear from the pictures). I've read before that bags sold at outlet stores *might* be different quality than those sold at the regular stores. Unfortunately, I'm done with this bag. It is too small. I've decided I can't really do white or light colors anymore. More importantly, the trigger snap (which I tried drawing an arrow to in the picture I uploaded) squeaks really badly (and have basically done so ever since I purchased, but was not something I noticed in the store when buying). It really, really annoys me. My husband had tried applying something (maybe DW 40, not sure), but there isn't anything I can do to resolve it. He knows I'm wanting a vintage Coach and I do own a Companion Flap, but it doesn't have the trigger snap connecting the strap to the purse. Other models I'm looking at (such as Manor, Court, etc) do seem to have this trigger snap connecting the strap to the purse (and also allowing for the strap to be removed if I wanted to carry the purse that way). I'm just curious. I know the vintage purses have brass hardware. I don't think the hardware on the white bag I pictured is brass. Do the brass trigger snaps squeak or is this just on the modern purses? It literally would be a deal breaker for me because of how much it annoys me so I'm wondering if anyone knows what I'm talking about (or maybe I'm just crazy). Thanks in advance!Coach 1.jpg Coach 2.jpg Coach 3.jpg

I don't know the answer to your question but that's a pretty bag....too bad it's not working for you
Yeah, you might be able to see from the third picture I posted (with the arrow), but there is some blue dye that rubbed off from my jeans on the purse. It is worse on the back side (which I didn't photograph), which confirmed to me that I won't buy white or super light colors again. I have used a Mr. Clean magic erase to help remove the blue (but that might have negatively damaged the leather, not sure).

Hmm. Good to know though. I guess there is just some variance. Thanks for letting me know!

The Kristin clip isn't a trigger snap. There's no comparison between the two. I own 6 or 7 Kristins and not a squeaker in the bunch, in fact none of my Coach clips squeak no matter what design is used for the clip. If the swivel mechanism itself is squeaking and WD40 didn't fix it there's not much you can do, there are probably 2 pieces of metal rubbing against each other.

This is the only style clip referred to as a trigger snap or clip, because it's actuated by a curved piece of hardware like a firearms trigger (partly hidden by the finger in the photo.

I stay away from white or very light colored bags too....they are just not going to look new or perfect for long

Okay - yes, that definitely looks different than the snap on my purse. Good to know though that others got purses without that squeaking noise. And now I won't have to eliminate those purses from my list. Thanks again! Everyone is so helpful here.
