So this is possibly the silliest question I can think of, but how important is it for you to match your hardware when buying bags and charms? I just put in a pre-order for a particular bag that has gold hardware, and there's a charm I want to go with it (that I forgot to pre-order, d'oh--gotta do that!) but it comes on silver hardware.

Does this sort of thing bother anyone else? Also, does anyone else prefer a particular color hardware with a particular color bag, just as an aside?

I generally try to match hardware, but not always. I have my oil slick rexy on silver hardware, for instance. I also put a silver Coach lock from a Mixed Icons bag charm on Black Copper hardware; it's on a Dinky I customized with Tea Roses, and some of them have silver spikes so I think it matches those.

In general I put silver on nickel/silver hardware and gold on brass, but it's not a hard and fast rule. I put on the charm that I think looks good on the bag. The hardware is just one consideration.

Sometimes the hardware doesn't match but the charm is perfect for the bag, so I go with it. I'd prefer it to match but it doesn't always happen that way.

If it's silver or gold I usually try to match because they're more common, but I don't try to match more unusual colors like rose gold or gunmetal. Honestly, it doesn't bother me much when the metal colors don't match, though. For me it's more about whether the charm itself is right for the bag.

I tend to match the same metals if possible. Or at least silver/gunmetal or gold/brass together. It kind of depends on how it looks together and if there is a lot of metal on the bag or not.

I want to say I don’t really care about them matching, especially for bag charms, but I definitely want the straps to match. I really wanted the rainbow link strap but since it had the black copper hardware and the bag I envisioned it for has brass, I had to pass on it. Now it it’s says silver and gunmetal or black copper, since they are kinda similar I color I would make an exception.

In a perfect world, I like for my hardware to match, but if I like a charm I'll buy it and throw it on my bag. It's just a bonus to me if the hardware happens to match.

I really like the look of matching hardware, but if I had a bag charm I loved, I might put it with whatever bag I was wearing - tbh I don’t wear too many charms, just haven’t gotten any really special ones yet. If it was a strap I would definitely want it to match.
