Happily holiday NM shopping until rude SA shows up..

That's horrible! I hope you tell the store manager what happened. Send a letter detailing what happened with a copy to Neimans headquarters in Dallas. I'm sure you'll get a response. I've done that before and heard from them. Neimans is in business to sell things and want to keep their customers happy, not put people off like those two crazy SA's you had. They were probably just too blinded by the beauty of your beautiful new Birkin to think properly!!!

Here's what you do from now on, go to that NM to look at the bags and choose which one you like, remember the style #, then call another SA to do a charge-send. Those people do not deserve your business and they certainly don't deserve the commission from the sale.

So I was off to Rotunda for lunch today showing off my new Hermes Birkin and strolled into Chanel to look around to see what was available. They still have the hobo patchwork, the patchwork classic flap bag, shearling bag and.........

I was particularly looking at the jumbo flap in black caviar as I bought one recently, and awaiting for delivery and realized that it's HUGE. (now reconsidering). Here I am gazing and the SA said, "You might want to look at this one in a different leather." She pulls the GRAY colored one in Caviar out from the window display and I said, "What's the difference between this black caviar and gray caviar?" She said this while ROLLING HER EYES, "It's different leather." I replied: What's so different about the caviar? (closely examining the bag, thinking I was blind). She immediately took the gray bag and placed it back on the shelf and said, "This is Chanel Jumbo Lambskin." So I correctly and said, "You mean caviar." She just walked away. Then I was looking at the ipod holders to purchase as Christmas gifts for my cousins and she again said, "I don't have an ipod, don't like it, and never will own one, so I don't know if it will fit the one you have."

Damn this SA had an attitude. There was a gentleman behind the glass case and he was obviously another Chanel SA, but totally ignored me as well.

It only takes one BAd BAG experience for me to STOP shopping there.
:cursing:

I am so sorry you had such a terrible experience. The gentleman you are talking about is our manager and sometimes he's so wrapped up in doing what he is doing that he doesn't notice these things. I know it sounds crazy that he doesn't notice such services but he does go off into his own little world when he gets super busy. I promise most of the SAs in handbags do not treat our clients or customers in that way.

Besides that, if you do not work well with a particular SA, you can always go to someone else. Any of the other SAs can walk you into Chanel to help you (just as long as you haven't already asked the specialist to help you.) I was there today but wasn't around the Chanel boutique.

^that's REALLY sad that he's a Manager. . . he knows better :yucky:
He should never be so wrapped up in something he can't bend over backwards or even acknowledge a customer looking to spend a few thousand dollars. . . it IS what keeps him employed afterall.

Swanky, I couldn't agree w/you more. Isn't he supposed to make sure the SA's bring in business, instead of driving it away? CS is SO important to me, and you are NOT getting a single cent of commission from me if you are condescending or act like you can't be bothered. NO thanks, I will take my thousands elsewhere where the managers appreciate my business.

How rude was ur SA! If u have a hermes you can obviously afford to shop in Chanel! I have had a rude SA myself, so I know exxactly how you feel. They left me standing around in the store for ages and then left the tag inside of my bag. I was so angry with my service that I felt like boycotting Chanel, but then I realised I LOVE Chanel bags too much! And I thought to myself that when they treat you like that you have to realise that they wish they could be shopping buying luxury bags, instead of selling them for a living- the jelousy is eating them up inside!

I echo that! I've also been ignored by him before, not that I mind since I get to look around by myself. :P It's just poor customer service since there weren't any other SA in the Chanel boutique that time I was there.

my, I thought I was the only one that's had a bad experience with NM. I went there with a friend of mine, dressed casually, and wanted to look at some of the bags, and the SA just looked at us like we were a couple of homeless people. We asked to see one of the bags and she turned away like she didn't hear us and helped somebody else. How rude. Why are they like this, they act like they own the place.

let's make sure we don't stereotype SA's, just like none of us want to be stereotyped.
We have several NM chanel SA's posting here and they're fantastic.
Not all SA's are snotty or think they're too good to help people.
In fact, I assume it's a personal issue these individuals have, it has nothing to do w/ their products or them thinking their products are too good for some people.
I think if these same folks were selling coffee, they'd still be snotty.
Some people just do not belong in the service industry.

this is EXACTLY why i shop online or call stores to order and ship stuff for me. I CAN NOT DEAL WITH a bad attitude. Honestly, I don't want someone to kiss my ass either, just BE NORMAL. Help me if i have questions, get my stuff together, ring me up and I'm done.

Whether I'm spending $5,000 or $5.00, ALL I WANT IS FOR MY SA TO BE NORMAL!!!

I didn't even go to the Chanel pre-sale because my SA called me the other day to remind me and i could tell she was "in a mood" so I just blew it off.

Sorry that happened to you. It sucks when people are so ugly.

thats terrible! i dont know whats worse..getting terrible service or no service at all. whenever i go in neiman marcus, i find that no one asks me if i need help or ANYTHING. one time, i stood there in Chanel, waiting..HELLO!? and there were two SA's just cleaning things up..i would think, they would ask if i needed help or something.. but anyways, I find that the Chanel on Maiden Lane is a bit better..i know this one guy in glasses wasn't too fond of me but David, who knows the handbags really well is really nice!

:shrugs: i haven't been to NM chanel boutique

but the actual store near union square is nice. the SAs aren't oo pushy but i do get service when i request it.

maybe you should try there next time? i always prefer buying items from the actual store, unless there wasn't one or it's only available in dept. stores, then i shop in dept. stores.
