Handles suddenly floppy after being upright on shelf

I have a lovely leather RL collection bag that is quite structured. However lately the leather has softened with use so i started to stuff it a bit. I keep it upright on my shelf.
Today I realized the top handles seem to be flopping inwards.
Am i storing the bag wrong?
Any way to support the 2 top handles?

Gravity *shrugs* and leather is malleable, not rigid.
Lay on its side?

I have stored my b35 using this method that I bookmarked and there is no slouch to be seen - I think it should work for other styles too.
