Hi everyone! My handbag is made from top grain leather, and I understand differences in leather texture is normal.

can you help me understand why there’s a drastic difference in these two leather textures? The left pic has larger grains (pebbles? not sure if that’s the correct terminology)whereas the right picture has smoother leather.

thanks for any help you can provide! I have been racking my head trying to figure this out.

Is it the age of the leather?? Which is more preferable/durable?

It's called the hide of the animal it was made from. No two hides are the same - due to the animal's environment and other things. Most bag makers will have some sort of disclaimer.

Now, the more money you spend - I mean MONEY - you can get 'perfection' but that is created by the maker out of the imperfections of the animal hide.

Love the color! I've always been a sucker for caramel!

Thank you for your input! Aside from appearance, is one texture more superior to the other? Is one more durable, scratch resistant, etc?
