Has anyone successfully insured high value handbags either on their home insurance policy or with a bespoke policy with a separate company?

I'm in the process of renewing our home insurance policy myself. I went through my usual broker last year and was shocked to find my bags weren't covered. I should have checked through the policy but it wasn't the bast of years

Most companies don't seem to be allowing handbags to be added as "specified items of value" as they aren't considered high risk items. They are lumping them into "personal possessions " which then have a single item payout limit which is usually between £1000 - £2000.

Can anyone recommend a company they have used preferably on their household insurance?

I enquired as part of contents insurance. I can get these items covered, but they need me to get these valued. They seem to think Chanel or designer stores will do that, I’ll be interested to learn how others have insured their bags here, particularly Chanel.

It is very difficult to find cover on a household policy as most don't deem expensive handbags "valuables/high risk" items. They are lumped in with extended contents which I found on most policies had a limit of £1000, some rising to £2000.With Chanel replacements values £5k- £6k now this obviously falls far short :amazed::nuts:

I've not found Chanel and other stores helpful with insurance  If you have the original receipt it doesn't really help especially in Chanel's case as they've increased in value beyond belief and insurance companies want to devalue older ones for wear and tear :confused1:

It seems easier to insurance an expensive push bike than a handbag!

i guess people just assume they are covered on their household policy and obviously haven't read the wording!
let me know how you get on? I'll be interested to see how you manage to get it done.
