With summer ending soon (in many areas), wardrobe and handbags colors tend to change.
Everyone's preference is different.... probably honed by years of habit as well as our own
sense of style, and influenced by the colors we see in fashion as it is promoted.

Every time I see a beautiful Dooney Florentine handbag in a color like IVY or Bordeaux
I'm reminded how stunning these colors really are. And then I wonder.... why haven't
I worn them in a long time. They have not just been passed over for the lighter, brighter summer colors,
but ignored *lby me and others) for the past few fall and winter seasons.

What are your favorite handbag colors for fall? Do you crave the change to the richer,
darker seasonal colors? Or are you happy with a set of core colors all year?

I'm influenced by the seasons, weather, and yes, fashion. I like an outfit to look cohesive...
as if I planned the combination of color/pattern of the clothing and handbag. I tend to use
neutrals when the clothing is brighter or the patterns are busier. And if I wear one item in
a vivid color , then I try to introduce that color elsewhere into the outfit to tie it all together.
Pink T shirt with black or white pants needs something else with pink to make the outfit look
pulled together in my mind. Just matching the handbag to the neutral color pants would work....
but wouldn't look finished to me. Yes, I'm probably overthinking it.

I'm seeing a lot of burgundy/bordeaux/deep red as the
hot handbag color for fall. It's also the top clothing fashion color.

Also noticing suede is back and big... for handbags of all sizes,
and also in clothing. And in today's world, faux suede is
considered just as good as real leather suede, especially in
clothing, outerwear, and shoes/boots.

Jewelry trends bring me back a few decades....
layered bangles, bolder pieces, pearls,
longer/larger pendant necklaces, necklaces of
beads. Yea, I can bring back out the pieces I
wore in the 1980's and not feel dated (and old)
And maybe, my 20-something
nieces will have some fun with them too.

What are you wearing this fall?
I have been hanging on to the last days of summer. It’s been warm but is going to get cooler this coming week. I have what I consider to be 3 fall Dooneys. My new Gracie in ivy, a toledo hobo in what I think they called rouge but it’s definitely a bordeaux and the domed buckle satchel in Natural. I think Natural is a year round color but I love it in fall.
My weekend wardrobe is jeans and fall sweaters. At work I wear a lot of black. I consider all my fall bags to be neutral and go with pretty much anything.

Sounds like you are all set with the perfect fall handbag colors.
I'm ready to dive into the fall handbag colors. The beautiful lighter
colors of spring and summer just don't seem 'right' to my eye anymore.
And my floral prints will have to wait until spring too.
I'm not quite ready for the Tartan print, but in addition to the solids
in wine/bordeaux, ivy, teal, black, navy, and shades of brown/saddle/natural,
I'm ready for the Dooney Gretta logo prints on those days when my
outfits need a little more interest.

I love all the jewel tone bags...I have a "horrible" habit of purchasing bags in burgundy, navy and ivy or some version of these three. I also truly love Florentine natural and chestnut but I will pull those out year-round. I try to use even my darker colors in the Spring/Summer and would say the only ones I truly only wear in the fall/winter are suede/nubuck bags. I have the Small Jones Satchel in Florentine/Nubuck Combo in red, taupe and rust.

Sounds like a great collection. And you are right, any color can be worn when ever you
want and it can look great, depending on how it's styled for the season.
A stark white bag looks smashing with an all black outfit or a black and white outfit
in the coldest part of winter. A deep color handbag can set off a printed summer
dress if the color complements the print. There are hundreds of ways to make
colors work thru out the seasons.

I tend to rotate my colors, but mainly so that I can give more of the collection
time out of the closet. 😁 Yesterday I wore a natural color tote with a leopard
T shirt and black slacks. The background of the print and the handbag were almost
identical. A black bag would also have been a good combo.
I'm sorting thru my options for later in the week.... black slacks, black and white
jacket, bright red knitted silk T. Black is the easy choice and right
for the business meeting.... not sure about red. No other color screams.... pick me...
I will be fabulous. Hearing calls from some grey handbags....I wonder how they
will look?

Red may clash if it's not the same red. I love natural with leopard print. If you have any two-tone from the pebble collection or something like that, it may look good too.
I don't have any Fall/Winter prints, but I do have a few floral prints which I exclusively wear in the Spring/Summer. I keep my clothes very basic so I could really wear any color on any given day.

I also keep my floral prints for the summer. But you remnded me I do have a black
background Tartan print, and I should get that out for the coming season.
Since my Friday outfit has a light print in the jacket, I think I'm going to stick with
a non print handbag (and the Tartan isn't big enough for all the files I'll need that day).

I do own a 2 tone large grey Ostrich embossed tote and my new black Alto tote.
Both would be big enough, as would a black/black Dooney nylon large double pocket satchel.

Time to stop imagining and lay things out on the bed and see which I prefer.
If I go with the grey, then I will coordinate silver jewelry, with the black
I'll go with gold jewelry. So much time and effort to look 'right' (in my own mind)
.... low key but very professional... don't mess with me, don't underestimate me,
and don't make any assumptions either.

So much fun to coordinate and accessorize and
play with my toys. 😁😁😁

I've decided on the large black Alto tote....
it's understated elegance (if you know, you know),
with no visible logo (blind stamped Dooney and Bourke).

I always remove hangtags from all my bags.... I want to minimize
the weight and also prevent damage to the leather. And, to be
honest, hangtags and charms always get in my way. I think they
can look good on other people's handbags, just not mine.

Now I can work on the jewelry..... 😁
I love playing in my jewelry box.
