Just curious if anyone has a "formula" for types of colors or how they incorporate color into their handbag collection.

I just feel like color has become very "trend" oriented. For example, over the past year or two, we see a lot of pastel colors. Even in the winter, people were wearing their rose darling/vert peppermint/etc. Or the heavy recent wave of Rouge H. I don't see many electric colors to be as popular as they once were. People used to rock bright red or bright green bags during any season. Particularly when it comes to QB, I worry to spend that much on a bag that I potentially wouldn't use.

For example - I know it isn't considered a QB in some stores, but I have a Vert Yucca C18 that I struggle to wear. Yet, I have so many friends who say green would be their #1 color and give so much praise to my purse. I like the bag plenty, but that shade of green isn't perfect to me (the way I find 5P to be a perfect pink or Bleu Frieda to be a perfect blue). I wonder if I did have a more "perfect to me" shade, if perhaps I'd wear it more often. I know a lot of it is personal style/lifestyle/location.

TLDR - How do you incorporate color into your handbag collection? Do you choose to stay towards pastels, jewel tones, electric colors, etc? How do you not succumb to what is "trendy" when it comes to shades of color? Do you first collect your personal version of neutrals?

I 100% agree with you!

This is why you must only buy the right colours (including neutrals) for you and your wardrobe.

It's not about blue or yellow or green. It's about the very shade. tint or hue of that colour. For example, I love Bambou (as most know). My SA put aside a Vert Vertigo Medor clutch, which as far as greens go is pretty close (and I love the name) but I was just not convinced by the colour (or a 23cm 'jewellery roll').

I cannot wait until the world is tired of pastels. It must be 10 years now. It feels like a 100. Personally, pastels have to be on the stronger sherbet spectrum for me, even then, I'm not sure about bags in those colours. I've had to go black or (non-H) metallic.

Colours have always been a part of fashion, every era has had its faves. Unfortunately, you have to grab 'your' colours when you can. They may not come round for a while.

Take a pic of your Yucca is a very popular shade. The MUA Natasha Denona even created an eyeshadow palette devoted to the plant colour. Maybe have a look at the palette and see how she paired the shades. You don't have to wear green with green, or other neutrals. We have a thread about styling with Hermes, and I am sure many would love to help you there https://forum.purseblog.com/threads...g-scarf-jewellery-rtw-thread-for-all.1013522/

I was deliberate with starting with neutrals (noir and gold, with a balance of hardware, and some natural leathers).

But I do have K32 Vert Maquis which I consider to be a neutral. It is deep enough to go with a black/white/neutral outfit. I also have a Bolide1923 25 in Orange. To me it is a perfect color that can go with winter or summer outfits. I also have a Blue Zanzibar Evelyne TPM that lasts through the seasons.

I really don’t look good in pastels or washed out colors. So I stick with the same in bags.

I guess that’s my formula - choosing for my skin color.

I’m a neutrals person. I only buy what I love :) Everything works together, and I assume it will for at least twenty more years so long as I can handle the weight of the bag. I’m not a pastels fan for my own style, but on some of my friends, it looks great. Every five or ten years, the favored neutrals swing from etoupe to gold; ebene, gray, black…. And back again. I wear a lot of blue bags; not so much black. I’m not quite in style or out, and that doesn’t matter if I’m
wearing current season or vintage. So long as you are happy, I wouldn’t worry overly about the fashion of color

I am someone who still wears bright color Hermes bags no matter the season (mostly Greens: Menthe, Bambou, Yucca, Jade...) but I also wear mostly black and navy clothing, and further accent that with a bright scarf, CDC, etc. But that's just my personal colour pallete for my complexion. Plus Hermes does colors better than anyone and is what made me fall in love with the brand. Lately with softer neutrals and pastels being more on trend, it's been more difficult to find brighter pieces, but I still like seeing how others make those colors their own. Buy and build your collection based on what you love! I think H is timeless enough that it will never go out of style as long as it is something you personally love

Like most of the other posters I agree with the essence of your post.
Gone are the days when a 'new outfit' required 'new co-ordinating' accessories.
Almost impossible if you choose Hermes unless you have the collection of an influencer.
Paper Tiger highlights the problem of tonal range where colour is concerned.
It is a shame when a beautiful bag of any colour is not 'quite the right palette' to co-ordinate with the rest of the outfit.
There are some universal (usually jewel) colours which can be widely used
and also a natural (what ever that means to you) leather colour like fauve in barenia or croc that will kind of go with anything.
