Hand painted vintage bag question and refurb

Hi all, long time no post, I know. One of the M bags on my wishlist popped up in not the greatest shape and I am deciding if I want to try to rehab it or not. Does anyone know how the older hand painted Bays, Rosemary and Roxanne bags hold up to washing? Might the paint be damaged if cleaned? Not sure what kind of leather they are either. Thank you for any help.

Hi! This is my hand painted bayswater after I washed her last year. Only very little paint flaked off - I truly can’t notice it. Good luck with your bag! [emoji5]
