Are half-moon handbags trendy? Will it go out of style? Capacity wise, is it lesser storage/space than the rectangular bags due to the round bottom? What is your preference (half-moon or rectangular bag)? Like or dislike? Would you add one to your collection? Please share.

I have a Gucci half-moon 2005 and another 2011 (originally designed 1969).

They've been in and out of style for more than 50 years so I wouldn't worry.

The bigger they are the flatter they need to be. Smaller ones are OK to be a bit more 'banana'.

Always liked the shape. Had one LV years ago, the Croissant PM, and found that the zipper was tricky in that model; people often found it wavy, as if it was difficult for the zipper to track smoothly across the curve. I would be careful to check the zipping on any crescent-shaped bag.

I agree, I have had the same problem with my LV Croissant PM many years ago.

I like them design-wise, but it's the zippers that eventually cause issues. With many of those bags the zippers get super wavy and make the bag either useless or very distorted. Zippers are intended to run straight and not curve so imo the design is bad from the start (for zippers. A half-moon bag with a flip closure, magnet or non-zip would be better.

I bought one from Kate Spade about a year ago. I carry it sparingly mostly because it doesn’t fit much. It also has to be zipped. I don’t like zippers. If I have a bag with a zipper, I just leave it unzipped.

I much prefer rectangular bags because one of my peeves is a bag that doesn’t stand up by itself. Half moon bags have to be carefully set down or they will tip over. I can’t deal with that haha

Do you consider this to be a half moon or crescent bag? Im a fan of Versace and thought this was a cute little (9") bag. I managed to snag one brand new with tags for a great price... plus I have the matching smallnzip wallet already.....now worried it's considered out of style (think it may be from 2023?)
