Hey there! I’m considering getting the Kelly Voyage 50. Since I’m not near a showroom, I had a few questions.

1. Is the Kelly Voyage 40/50 a quota bag, or can I purchase one if it’s available on the day?
2. I noticed that some larger Kelly bags have a zip at the back, while others don’t. I prefer the zippered one, so could you please let me know the model name for that?
3. By the way, David Beckham was recently photographed carrying a Hermes Kelly. Was that the Kelly Voyage 50?

How challenging is it to obtain the HAC 40? My wife and I were at the store when they had the HAC in stock. Although it’s not a quota bag, is it difficult to get? I have the Gold togo with Pladium, but I would prefer a darker color like Navy or Black.

I was considering either getting a HAC 40 in a darker color or the Kelly Voyage 50.

1. This is store-dependant. It's considered luggage in some stores (not at mine in Asia, unfortunately).
2. I believe you are referring to the Maxi Kelly 42, which has the same hardware details as the Kelly Voyage 50 (and the HAC 40) but has a zippered back pocket. The other Kelly model with zips is the Lakis (which also came in a size 40), but is discontinued.
3. Yes, this is indeed the Kelly Voyage 50.

The HAC 40, Kelly Voyage 50 and Kelly Maxi 42 do appear every now and then on the shelves, but they are rare (regular sized Birkins and Kellys are far more common). Fortunately, not many people are interested in them. My advice would be to let your associate know so they can keep a lookout for you.

All the best!

What do the members here consider more masculine: the HAC 40 or the Kelly 50? My wife finds the gold HAC 40 slightly feminine on me, which is why I want to swap it. However, the problem is finding a replacement Kelly, which will be extremely difficult. I don't have a SA, and I live far from the closest Hermes store. Therefore, I only visit stores two to three times a year at most. It was just sheer luck that they had the HAC 40 on the day I visited the last time.

I don't find the HAC 40 feminine. The proportions of the sangles, lock, and handles are all much thicker than the Birkin's. It's also a very large bag.

I think you should keep your HAC, and also get the Kelly 50 (or the Kelly Maxi 42). The bags are very different and the Kelly has a shoulder strap which gives it a few more ways of styling/wearing than the HAC.

I think you should be very clear how you want to use it.
I have a HAC 45 and there is always the option to use it open topped as well as closed.
If you are using it like luggage and security is not an issue, then a HAC will hold more.
My HAC is unlined and I was surprised just how heavy, in comparison, a 40/42 Kelly seemed, that I tried in the boutique.
A Kelly does need to be closed and fastened properly.

I travel frequently, and the HAC 40 is quite heavy for me. I’m considering switching to the Kelly due to its sling and lighter weight.

On another note, I’m curious about the best way to sell a Hermes bag. Everyone I’ve spoken to suggests taking it to a consignment shop, but I’m hesitant to hand over such an expensive item without knowing if it will be sold.

I understand the attraction of a sling option, but when something gets that heavy,
it's probably best not to hang it over your shoulder.
Last weekend I was in that position using a different leather bag (custom made 15x12x8 ins) and I didn't want that weight
either on my shoulder or cross body.

David Beckham's bag is not very full.
