Hi All,

I am pretty new to this forum and was hoping someone could help me out. I own a brown sukey and a black pelham with studs. The leather on the two are completely different. The Sukey was purchased from the store so I am confident it is 100% authentic. The Black Pelham was purchased from eBay and authenticated by Castira. However, I am still nervous. The black leather appears to be really shiny and thin when compared to the brown guccissima.

Should I be worried? Has anyone noticed a big difference between the black and brown guccissima leather?

Here are some photos for anyone interested - http://www.creativecharm.com/pelham/New/.

Thanks!

I have a black icon bit shoulder bag in guccissima and I would not say the black leather is thin by any stretch. I am getting a chocolate studded pelham the end of the week and will compare the two leathers but from what I have seen in the stores, they should be similar.

Maybe you can contact Gucci customer service, give them the serial numbers of both of your bags and ask what type of leather was used to make your bags.

I know that guccissima leather can differ with different styles of bags.

I distinctly remember when the Ladies Web Hobo in black guccissima first came out (prior to $ increases) - the price point was really good for a guccissima bag (compared to other guccissima bags). When I went to try her on in IRL, the leather seemed lighter and not as thick as my other guccissimas. Another tPFer asked an SA about the leather and they said it was made of a different leather.

If you got it authenticated by Castira I would say your fine. I looked at your pictures and the bag looks authentic.... Some of the leathers do vary....like the web hobo....the leather is very thin.... compared to my joy guccissima.... so I think it depends on the bag/what leather they used....I wouldn't worry if I were you...you bag looks great.

The Ladies Web Hobo is much lighter, ITA. And I was also told that they use a different leather for these bags.

I just called my SA and she told me that you shouldn't compare leather from one style to another, but that all the leather for the guccissima studded pelhams should be the same. I would suggest going into a boutique with your bag and compare if you are feeling uneasy. But if you had the bag authenticated, you are probably fine.

I am not sure if anyone is interested but I wanted to give an update. I have been traveling Asia for the past month and been in over 10 Gucci stores. For the same style, I have seen Guccissima leather variances - from the shiny leather I described above to a beautiful thicker leather. I have been looking at the white Sukey in particular at all the Gucci stores.

I am not a fan of the shiny plastic like version but haven't figured out where they are coming from. In North America, all the Guccissima leather I have seen is the "nicer" type.
