So I've actually had this issue pretty much ever since I bought the bag but never thought to actually address it. I have a Gucci Sylvie that I bought from Amsterdam last year and 4 months in I started noticing it changing colour. My Sylvie bag is black and it slowly turned into this copper-y colour (no, I did not do anything to the bag). I took it to my local Gucci and the store manager basically told me that it could be wiped off and that I should stop using fake tan when I'm using the bag. Well, I never used fake tan in the first place and it turned me off that the store manager said that and never bothered to ask what is happening to my bag again.

I'm confused, why is this happening and what should I do? Let me know if any of you is experiencing the same problem.

Sometimes black dyes can turn coppery or rusty-toned. I've seen this happen with clothing, but never with leather!--yet it's possible that a poorly-executed dye job might be the culprit. That manager's behavior was HORRIFYING and I encourage you to pursue this with a different boutique or a higher Gucci authority. There is no excuse for a bag at a Gucci price point to lose color after 4 months--or ever, actually.
JMO, but I'd be livid.

I've had this happen before to one of my bags and it can be wiped off. It is from greases/oils, which may be from lotions, food, etc. The coppery colour actually looks a bit metallic, and it's actually similar to the way metallic leathers are actually finished (it's a metallic wax/grease applied to the surface of the leather to give it that finish).

Interesting, I have to check my sister’s Gucci bags then.... I know Burberry leather has this kind of leather issue.... Since it’s only 4 months of use this shouldn’t happen at all!!
