Looking for some advice here. Last year (around October) I bought the dome-shaped Gucci Ophidia. I fell head over hills when I first saw this bag and knew I had to have it. It was truly one of my favorites in my collection.

Anyways, I wore it on-and-off and in January I noticed that the canvas started to peel in one of the corners. I was so heartbroken because I take really good care of my bags and it is not a cheap bag at all. Canvas was supposed to last, right? Thankfully I was able to return it but since then I felt like my collection was incomplete without my Gucci Ophidia.

So I started looking for other styles. Maybe the classic shoulder bag would work, but it seems too big and it also doesn't have the GGs I love. This one looks pretty, but I like the leather strap more for that 70s look. I even bought the top handle tote, but had to return it because the strap was way too long (I'm only 5'1'').

Basically nothing really compares to my original one. It was the perfect shape and size and it fit me like a glove. Should I follow my heart and buy another one (maybe, just maybe, I won't have the peeling problem), or should I just try to get over it?

I think you should try and get the dome one again. It’s a great roomy Bag with a comfortable strap and amazing vintage vibe.

I don't think you should get it again because the peeling may happen again. The canvas is so stretched at the pointed corners that it is very susceptible to cracking and peeling.

Oh man I went to Nordys and purchased the Ophidia small gg tote and although it has leather trim, Im just not so sure about the coated canvas itself (concerned about it rubbing against my clothes and the canvas wearing quickly) - so although I absolutely fell in love with it, not willing to gamble on that esp with such a price tag.

The coated canvas itself is not that delicate. It can stand rubbing against clothes as long as the clothes aren't full of abrasive embroideries or studs, and as long as the dyes of the clothes can't migrate to stain the canvas. These don't happen that often so I think you can enjoy your new tote without having to worry about it damaging

Hi. I’m also seriously considering this bag as my next purchase. Did you decide to keep it? If so, have you had any wear so far and would you post a pic? Thanks
