Gucci Marmont Mini flap bag - velvet or leather?

So I’m currently deciding whether I should sell my Gucci Marmont in leather in exchange for the velvet or not. What does everyone think? Is the velvet potentially a classic? The leather is just so soft on the one I currently own that I’m constantly worried how it will hold out.

I prefer the leather, it will not only last longer but look better longer since velvet gets dusty and worn.

Also, I was initially interested in the velvet but the Gucci velvet feels like felt paper. I have a velvet Chanel boy bag and whoa, the velvet on it is so luxurious and thick, I was so disappointed in the feel of the Gucci velvet.

Even though my Chanel bag has amazing velvet, I still regret buying it over the leather version since it picks up dust so easily and has to be wayyy more babied.

In the end though, the price point of the velvet marmont isn't too bad so if you like the look of the velvet better--why not!

Leather!
Not sure about how it'll fare long term but I doubt it'd be worse than velvet. Plus, the velvet is extremely popular right now but I don't think the trend will last.

i guess owning both is out of the question. i didn't think velvet is an everyday bag. I returned two! truth was at the end of the day even though the price point is decent (comparably to other high end lines) it was still too delicate for schlepping around imo. the leather even if soft is still easier.
