Gucci Marmont Medium - Velvet or Leather?

Hi everyone looking for some advice. For my 30th my siblings want to buy me a Gucci marmont. I've decided on black in medium size but since it's a 30th presents I want it to be a classic keep and use for a long time sort of piece. I cannot decide whether to go for the velvet or the leather. I love the velvet, it is so stunning and luxurious but is it a bit of a fad? Given I've chosen the medium size I see it as a day bag that I'd use often I know there are wear issues with velvet but I'm not super concerned about that. I just cannot decide what to do. Should I get a small in velvet and then compromise as a evening and day bag or stick with my original though of a medium and go for the velvet? Or do I just go the classic traditional route of leather? Love your input. Thanks

Everyday bag, go leather!
Would you consider the medium in leather and a velvet mini?
The mini is a great little bag if you can edit your essentials or only want it for evening wear. The mini has a nice shape - less rectangular than the small - and is obviously slightly less expensive. And if you're concerned about the velvet being faddish, it's never out of style for evening bags.

I don't think velvet makes it an evening only bag. It really depends on how you dress. It can look edgy or casual. Velvet is no more a fad than the Marmont design.

You should definitely get leather because it's more durable and timeless!
