It's hard to say. It was very very popular when it was released in 2016. The design was clean and simple but significant enough that it was recognizably
Gucci. It was also a very practical design for the most part, as their belts, flap bags, and camera bags were their top sellers. Also, the price point was relatively decent.
It was very popular across a wide range of clients, young and older. But maybe too popular....

It was in every single IG post, every YouTube review, and almost everyone either had it or knew someone who had it. I saw it A LOT. Not just in shopping malls, but on the street, in grocery stores, by the beach, etc.
At the end of the day, it sort of oversaturated the market and I think people just got tired of it. It's interesting because wasn't really a fad or the kind of item that was very hyped up for just a season or two and no one saw it again. It had a really good run tbh, probably a strong first 3 years and later a decent 1-2 years. It really started dying out at the end of 2019 though. And I think the pandemic really just ended its lifespan a bit early (like it did with so many things). Now that we are kind of "after" the pandemic, I think it has almost become a new era and therefore, people no longer are as interested into various things compared to pre-pandemic.
Not saying that the Marmont line is "old". Honestly, taking a step back in the history and timeline of luxury goods, it's still a young design. It just may have been a bit over done. It's kind of like hearing a hit song on the radio getting over played and then you're sick of it even though it is a good song.
Just my rambling thoughts though.
