Gucci Logo Embossed leather crossbody bag

Hi everyone,

I’m relatively new to the Gucci forum, apart from an old Soho Disco I haven’t really been all that into Gucci. However, my Soho Disco is used and abused and ready for retirement. I’ve been browsing around for black, somewhat casual leather handbags that can be carried crossbody. I’ve been considering just getting another Soho Disco (and feeling the heat of buying one ASAP too since it’s been discontinued according to my local Gucci boutique), but also at the same time I’m also open to getting something new. I stumbled across this the other day, but haven’t seen it in real life as the store here doesn’t have it. What’s everyone’s opinion on it? Has anyone seen it IRL? What’s the size of it like on? I’m not overly fond of the huge embossing, but apart from that I quite like it.

If you don’t like the embossing (I don’t either), I’d skip - that’s the main design “feature” of the bag.

I like the style but not the embossing. Seems like the soho works for you, I’d get that. If you are open to preloved I see them listed a lot on reseller sites….

Hi, thank you for your input. Yeah, without the embossing it would be kind of anonymous wouldn’t it? I like everything about it except that though so I guess that’s why it made it onto the list in the first place.

Hi, thank you for your input. Agreed, I like everything about it except the embossing. I think it would be a lovely and easy to use bag - perhaps slightly more sleek than a Soho Disco. But for my purpose a new Disco probably will do the job just fine as a “throw around everywhere including rainy weather” bag. I was just listing a bit for something new

Hi, yes, the embossing is loud… but the bag beautiful apart from that. I’ve seen it with retailers like Matchesfashion, Mythetesa and at Farfetch (but not on the Gucci website). Also found pictures of it in a tan leather from Guccis catwalk show for the Aria (?) collection.

Thanks, yes, I think you're right about it being part of the Aria collection (seems to coming out in dribs and drabs here and there).

I'm with many here, I really like the bag itself but the large writing is just too plain 'in-yer-face'. The SD has been popular for a very good reason (I've had one since 2016). It can be dressed-up or worn casually, plus the interlocking logo is clever and beautifully done, looks small but it can hold a lot.

Thank you for your input. I don’t think I would’ve been in doubt if the embossing wasn’t there. I agree that it’s very in your face. Ironically I’m also curious about the new Balenciaga Le Cagole bag which is also very much in your face, but at least no visible logos. The SD has served me very well and I’m starting to think that I might just get another one…
