Gucci Dionysus vs black Marmont camera bag

Hi all
So I’m torn, I really am missing a Gucci bag from my bag collection and Iv always been on the fence about both of these. Not because I don’t love them because I think they are both really nice bags but as I don’t buy bags regularly I just don’t want to invest in a bag that’s going out of style or will be considered too trendy. Either way if I love a bag Il wear it even if it’s deemed so last year or out dated. However I’m just afraid that it will not look like a classic.
So I really like these two bags but I’m not sure which one to choose. Which one would you all recommend in terms of practicality, longevity and style esp if you have both.

I think the Marmont is not a very classic style. It exploded, it was everywhere and now most people are just done with it. If you want a black classic leather bag, I wouldn't pick a Marmont. Then again, the Dionysus is way more rigid and looks a tad more formal. Does that match your personal style? I adore small formal bags and wine, so I would pick the Dionysus.

Thanks for your response. That’s my only concern that the bag is everywhere.
My personal style is quite formal and put together. I’m not really a jeans and T-shirt and trainer kind of girl.

I am reading two good reasons to go for the Dionysus. The camerabag style of the Marmont looks very casual to me. Off course you can dress it up or down but if your style is more put together, I would complete that with a structured bag.

I'm a bit biased but go for the Dionysus. I have that exact style of bag; and I really love it. It's especially beautiful in person while the Marmont has become a bit "meh" for me (even if I have the Marmont WOC). For me, though, I used it in casual settings because that's my style; and so I've gotten a lot of use out of it.

I was in the same predicament as you, I wanted to add more Gucci to my collection and couldn't decide between Dionysus and Marmont, and had been mulling over both for the last few years. I ultimately went for the Dionysus (just a few weeks ago!) because:

1. It can be dressed up or down; I've used it grocery shopping and out for nice dinners.
2. The Marmont camera bag felt like a casual, entry-level bag. (Ridiculous, I know, considering it's still a 4-digit bag!) The Dionysus cost a bit more but looks more luxurious, in my opinion.
3. I felt very secure with the durability of the Supreme canvas and the chain strap versus the soft leather and leather strap of the Marmont. Seriously, this Gucci canvas is...wow. Maybe better than my beloved Vuitton canvas??
4. The Dionysus design seems classic and timeless compared to the camera bag. (I also think as I get older, the Dionysus will suit me more; I'll eventually feel too old for a camera bag!)

I feel like I won't be done until I've got a dusty pink Marmont item, but I'll probably get it in the form of an SLG later down the line. I have no regrets going with the Dionysus to quench my Gucci purse itch!

Please note that the length is straps are not the same - the length strap on the Dionysus is much shorter than the Marmont, so depending on your height and if you want to wear it crossbody, this may be a deciding factor for you as it was for me.

Dionysus gets my vote. It’s a classic beauty. Even when off trend, you can still rock it.
